Commitment to FSO
« on: May 09, 2014, 11:22:06 PM »
Most of you don't know me from Adam but when The Unforgiven makes a commitment to FSO we try to live up to it. We were assigned the attack on V154 tonight and had a sound plan put together. Only one small issue. The escort of 7-10 never showed. Not whining, but we have flown with 3-4 pilots in years past. Every pilot counts in FSO. I am very passionate about FSO and have been for many years now,  and I hate to have to try to explain to my guys why our escort was a no show. Please try to live up to your commitment to FSO if you sign up for it.  We'll be back...  :rock

That sucks!!  You gotta look at that and say the chances of the entire squad not showing by accident, hummm.  Sounds coordinated to me.

The squad assigned as your escort is a bit of turmoil and may be the reason.

Last FSO 56th failed to escort our set of 190s, leading to all but 1 aircraft to be lost.
They were off doing their own thing, it's a pain when assignments don't show up, or fail to follow instruction.

56th's orders were to escort/sweep A23.  They swept.  Did your CO contact LilMak and ask for close escort?  Are you the official spokesman for Lachender Teufelskopf Gruppe or do they have a CO that would like to send me note (PM encouraged).

I'm the official spokesman for myself 56th disappointingly ignored part the of the job they didn't want to do at the expense of others that day.

First, you're not the only group of 190s last month who got wiped out.

Second, I had some issues last month and I personally missed all of the frames due to real life commitments. My crew, however, had the orders from me and they were there. Your fingers/keyboard obviously work since you're able to post here. Perhaps you should make an effort to communicate next time before you blame another squad for something that happened to you. And I don't appreciate, if you have a bone to pick with the 56th, the open forum to be the first place I/we hear about it.

Ink-Jetsom,
Thank you for the response.  Understood, almost all squads have their hiccups from time to time. I was a tad frustrated with our 110's and Stukas hung out in the breeze with no help. Apology  accepted Unforgiven are ready to move on to next Friday night.

As far as the 56th goes they did an excellent job for us last night, everything went like clockwork and the timing for everything was excellent :aok  same goes for the 367th as well :aok.  In fact they contacted us by e-mail before the frame to get an idea of plans.  Albeit I normally wing the plans in the last 30 minutes before start :lol .  So Dolby not sure what happened in your case, but they did great for us.

Ink,

Look forward to having your guys back, I know you got some work and re-organizing to do.  If any of your guys need a ride in the meantime, I'm sure VF-17 and the rest of the community can help you guys get your FSO fix on Friday :rock

I wouldn't throw them under the bus on that one. That whole mission was fubar from the get-go. I made the decision to push directly in once the base we were trying to sneak past started flashing. Just dumb luck we got bounced by those spits.

Ah, yes... This brings back fond memories of FSO. Many a night can get fubar there. That's part of what makes it so cool when things go right. I still remember the first time I busted a box of bombers with a 110's raketen, the first time I was sole squad survivor, the first time I landed a d-9 with half a wing (keep the speed up, compensate for the lost aileron with rudder). Those were great times with my now more or less gone squad mates. Word is, though, that I'm going to play in Voronezh next Friday. I hope to see you all there, either killing me, or better yet, under my guns.

Worst thing with FSO is when you make a noob mistake that ruins the mission for you. I remember an Italy scenario where I survived the first sortie with one squaddie, then on landing bent my prop.
Some say revenge is a dish best served cold. I say it's usually best served hot, chunky, and foaming. Eventually, you will all die in my vengeance vomit firestorm.
