Some of these I think he cobbles together himself out of old garage door parts, and then poses his grandma in front of it in a flying cap to help sell the photo. :)

Awwwww! Don't be sore. You just need to learn your general aviation genre the same way you know your military and commercial aviation.

And for the record, old garage door parts is incorrect.  :D

Good guess! But an acceptable answer will require a model to go with that make. And though it looks like a Taylorcraft, this particular float-plane was manufactured by one of their industry rivals.  :D

Messerschmitt Bf 162 Jaguar. Now guess mine. Which apparently is infinitely harder. I thought it would be cheese. I guess working at an airport on weekends I see more of these general aviation planes so I figure them for commonplace.

It most certainly is! We have a Super Swift based here at KTHV. It is a darling little silver bird. Some people in the clique call it the "Poor Man's Mustang."
