They're at it again
« on: May 17, 2014, 11:27:42 AM »
I don't know if you guys have heard about what the FCC is trying to do, but they are trying to make it so that ISPs can charge you more money for certain services on top of your existing internet bill. I for one can't afford crap like this and would just flat out cancel my internet service and with it any online service that I pay to use.

If you want more detail, here's a video (language warning):

You know, I bet that was said millions of times prior to %#$!*care. And look at us know. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers, including a super majority in the US Congress.

This is a real thing..  There's been protesters camped outside the FCC for a day or two.  They've actually already allowed the fast lane to happen, we're just hoping we can get them to repeal it. Basically if it stands as is, isp's will charge websites like netflix, google, and any other site you use for the privelege of using the fast lane for regular speed in accessing content.  Those businesses/sites that can't or won't pay will be slowed down, which effects the consumers.

If you like the internet, pls email the FCC and tell them you're pissed about it.  This would kill the internet as we know it.

Openinternet@fcc.gov I believe is the address, as they've created a new address on the topic.

Here's an article from cnn.

Probably will receive some heck here, but kind of sucks that I cannot load a web page or when my internet stops working completely because someone else is streaming a HD movie for free.

Smoe, that must be someone on your local network, not on the internet. Who are you sharing your internet connection with?
