Dont know if u guys outside Sweden knows about it but the wreck of the Lancaster Mk I "Easy Elise" (NF-920, reg. KC-E), A member of the 617th Squadron still lies in situ in northern Sweden, She made a forced landing after being damaged by flak during the 2nd raid against Tirpitz on the 29th of October 1944. She was one of 37 Tallboy-eqipped Lancasters attacking tirpitz in Tromso that day.
All crewmember survived the crash with minor inuries and were sent back to U.K in nov 1944.

There was a documentary on the BBC last week - 'What the Dambusters did next' narrated by John Nichol. It featured Easy Elsie which is the only surviving 617 Lancaster.

Watch the movie "Dambusters" if you haven't seen it. It follows the development, and on through the missions. It was a different time, so please excuse the language used when referring to their mascot.

It's got some great model work (pre CGI).

I agree. After all the modifications and the Turret removed, they were called Lincolns.

Lincoln had redesigned wings and fuselage, and different engines. It wasn't just a Lanc with turrets removed.

A quick google search says that th RAF got their first Avro Lincolns in 1945 and they did not take part in WW2.
https://www.airforce.gov.au/raafmuseum/research/aircraft/series2/A73.htm

So then we can end that debate. 617 flew Lancasters.
