Theatre ideas?
« on: June 06, 2014, 05:45:53 PM »
Ok, so I am doing a duet competition for my high school with one of my friends. Her and I haven't had much luck in finding a scene we have both been into, and I thought I would come to you guys for help. Any suggestions are welcome, as long as it is a male and female duet. Thanks!

No, just straight acting. I had thought of that one too, but we can't do a musical :(

Get creative. Take the final scene from "A Few Good Men" where Cruise goads Nicholson into blurting out "You're gawd dam right I did!!"

Depending on how long you are allowed, this could make for a very dynamic, engaging 15 minutes.

Hmm..."Days of Wine and Roses?" "Much Ado About Nothing"? Anything by Tennessee Williams? Shame you can't do musicals. "Billy Bishop Goes to War has some nice numbers.

A few good men and Billy Bishop might fit the bill, I'll run those by my partner.  :salute

The Producers..   Max and one of his old ladies.. I don't have the script, but, possibly 1st or 2nd scene, Act 1.  As long as you're not looking for something too long.

Another possibility would be Leo and Ulla.

I always thought the Lord of Rings films had some good duet scenes between Arwen and Aragorn. Some of the scenes between Arwen and her father also struck me as fairly moving.

There must be something in "Long Day's Journey Into Night", though I suppose it depends on how depressed you want to be.
