It is entertaining to read about the Vets attending the 0th Anniversery.
But of all the stories, I don't think any of them compare to the story of Bernard Jordan
The D-Day veteran asked the staff at his Care Home if he could attend to ceremony in Arromanches. For some reason they declined.
Never say no to a soldier.
He got dressed up in his uniform, complete with medels. He then donned another jacket, busted out of the care home and caught a bus to Normandy! The Care home phoned the police and declared him missing. After an extensive search of all hospitals, local area, bus and train links, they were informed by another veteran that he is in Normandy!
Mr Jordan has since been in contact with the Care Home to inform them that he would return once all of the ceremonies are over.
