I actually came from FSX to AH, however many years ago that was.. Almost 3 I think?

I heard GameSpy died though so it's a b@#*$ to connect to games/servers?

Got it. Not installed though. Maybe later this year I will install it again with my A2A P-51.

I have it, almost never use it. I could never stand looking around. One of the standout things about AH for me is the view system. My experience of flying VFR is that your head is outside of the cockpit not trapped in a box with window pillars and such. Have X plane 9 and its the same, I would use clear panel or whatever its called, also the planes usually fly weird. There was one download of a 172 or something that you could do a forward slip in but....

I also tried vatsim and that was kind of neat. A lot of the problem is the controls and the absence of realistic trim. I have a soaring simulator called condor that feels reasonable.

I have it and I use it. But mostly as a gateway to VATSIM. Once you've flown with real ATC, flying offline just isn't the same.

FSX connected to VATSIM with FSpassengers installed and random failures turned up to max.

I once flew into Heathrow and the gear wouldn't extend, declared an emergency and got her down and then the Tower controller at Heathrow messaged me saying it was his first day solo and that was the most stressful thing he'd ever done!

Over the last several years a few folks from AH have, on occasion, done an around the world flight. Our last flight followed the path of the 1924 USAAS flight around the world. We flew the Grumman Goose as there was not a Douglas World Cruiser model available.

Yeah, FSX can be boring at times. But we had a blast along the way. Flights like that make for good times just BS'ing along the way.

The Vatsim network can be a great experience for folks who enjoy just flying. There are many organizations that offer flight in a virtual airline as well as flying with outfits that mimic real world military flight operations. The vUSN actually uses flight standards developed by the USN for their operations.

Controllers on Vatsim go thru a pretty rigorous training syllabus in order to work as controllers. There are many actual controllers/pilots  who practice their craft on Vatsim.

That is all correct. A friend of mine flies with a virtual USN squadron equipped with Super Hornets. I myself like to fly freestyle. More than once I've been scolded for getting too close to transonic speeds over the CONUS in the VATSIM. But then again my callsign in here is Blinder for a reason. I love flying this thing in the VATSIM world.

I remember reading that a couple years back, and it still completely baffles me how someone could possibly find that fun.  But, there are all kinds in the world I guess...

It must be the people who do traffic control for a job. Then they go home and relax controlling FSX  :rock
