I would like to thank you all for participating in the build up to the event, and then to a successful run of Frame 1.
The Scenario Team is working on a new foundation for events, much of what is going to occur in this event is built on an underlying system that we hope to use in future events. Primarily, allocation of resources as opposed to 2 lives. It is experimental, it is difficult to manage, and it lends itself more closely to what commanders in the war had to control. Not just lives, but resources. Expect in the near future an event based on not just lives and planes, but a monetary system that allows the command team to purchase assets, not simply pick from those available.
With that, how did Frame 1 go? In a nutshell, it looked like fun.
You all have your AARs and reports that you can elaborate on, I'm going for the guts. Here are the results. Remember, this frame was a Meet or Do Not Meet your objectives, all or nothing.
IJN Objectives
[UNMET] Sink 75% of Ships In The Harbor AVOIDING USS Solace. Sinking the Solace will result in another damaged ship being repaired. Locate USS Solace at this map, object #14.

US Objectives
[ACHIEVED] Shoot Down 65% of all IJN Aircraft, any combination, any type.
[ACHIEVED] Locate and Identify any 3 of 6 Carriers. (Note: 1)
[UNMET] Sink any IJN Carrier.
Both teams did an admirable job and very nearly achieved their objectives. The US team was so close, so often, to locating the IJN Fleet that on several occasions a US pilot was just on the fringes of visibility. Had the fleets been located earlier, there could have been more time to mount additional attacks. There were plenty of planes left over. There is also the fact that no matter how hard we practice and drill, fog of war will cause an oversight. The IJN was able to successfully drop twice as much ordinance as required to achieve the objectives at Ford Island, had they, in fact, hit the correct target, they would have more than achieved their goal. The IJN was successful in the fact that they were able to keep their bombers alive long enough to do credible damage, that is telling for the future frames.
The US side dominated, handily, the air to air campaign easily achieving the 65% mark, and were able to correctly identify the CVs, and were pressing hard on the goal to sink a carrier, and were close to pulling that off as well.
The reason for these comments? Simply this. This entire campaign can hinge on a single action. The scouts located the incoming IJN literally minutes before the airfields were heavily capped. The IJN had enough time to line up and successfully drop their bombs, but hit the wrong factory which held far more objects to destroy which were enough to take out the rest of the ships. Little things make huge differences, again it just goes to show how each and every pilot that shows up, or does not show up, can make such a substantial difference in the outcome.
