pink slime is back
« on: June 12, 2014, 04:39:29 PM »
wonderful...

http://www.clarkhoward.com/news/clark-howard/health-health-care/how-to-know-if-youre-eating-pink-slime/ndJ5g/

Just what we need again, might not be "dangerous" but these are not parts you'd eat if you harvested the meat yourself...
They're casting their bait over there, see?

Meh. Whatever, anyone that's eaten a cheap hotdog has eaten worse.

You DO realize that for some meats (IE cured hams like capicola and prosciutto) that's an integral part of the process, right?

Why do people hate me?  :uhoh

My opinion is same as many others, if the meat is cooked thoroughly, you won't have a problem. If you absolutely have to know, then you probably won't be eating much today.

Sorry, your post came across to me as sarcastic, when it actually wasn't, lol.

I go to the butcher in the morning to pick up my steer. Grass Fed. My main staple is deer but I came up with a steer to raise on a trade. I sold a half cause I don't need 600 lbs for myself.

Back to the topic, its beyond me that folks still eat what they do, knowing what's in it. The only chicken ill eat is one ive raised or someone I know has. Which is really never. I used to gorge myself on gas station chicken tenders and mcnuggets. I'm not trying to be "oh holyer than thou" but if your still eating stuff like this and feeding it to your kids educate yourself.

Unfortunately, the country couldn't afford to feed itself if everyone went to the butchers, and demanded free range chicken.

Many know and have no other option. Many like myself know and don't care. Godallmighty that chicken washed down with some homebrew does taste good after a long day of errands, and I don't have to cook it either.

If science says it's not going to kill me, I'll keep eating it.

Shopping, getting the car serviced, pharmacy, it adds up in time. Especially in Portland; for some Golly-geen reason.

Is it as physically exhausting as working a field, or other manual labor? No, obviously. But it's much more mentally taxing, and leaves you exhausted in an entirely different way.

And you would be surprised; that hotdogs are garbage meat is pretty much common knowledge. Once again, you're greatly overestimating much of America's grocery budget.
