looking for someone to build me a gaming computer.....
« on: June 16, 2014, 09:02:35 PM »
I know its been a while since my last post but I would like to know if anyone could build me a good gaming computer for around $600 its mainly going to be my WoT/WT/AH/Iron Front computer I would like it to be able to run WoT with no problem at 60fps with everything on high my computer that I have right now was bought for pure gaming about 5 years ago but is sorely out of date it can't even run AH at 60fps with minimal graphic settings which is usually not a very intense environment such as WoT or WT I can't even run Iron Front anymore  because it just has to many things going on at once any help would be much appreciated

where did you get your old computer?  some parts maybe usable.  also 600 bucks is kind of the low side for a gaming computer to play with a lot of eye candy on.  try this website to give you an idea.  but would be cool if you build it yourself.

As guncrasher said 600$ is kinda low for a gaming computer. If you're on a budget I'd go for a GTX 750, the cheapest i5 and motherboard you can find as well as economic 2x4GB ram modules. Where can you but components? Amazon, Newegg? I can try to make some part lists for you, I like doing that stuff  :P
Started from the bottom...still at the bottom.

Like semp says, what parts do you have available to re-use? Was the system you have built or manufactured? Potential usable parts are the case, hopefully a mid tower with ample fan cooling, and a DVD drive. Given its age of 5 yrs, a new power supply and hard drive are highly recommended.

I just rebuilt my 5 yr old home build and refitted an Antec 900 case with:

1 x ($249.99) EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2765-KR GeForce GTX 760
1 x ($144.99) GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD3H LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA
1 x ($139.99) SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91
1 x ($84.99) CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM
1 x ($224.00) i5-4690 3.5 G Haswell CPU

Total cost about $900 If you need a case, HD and Win7 OS, you're talking another $350. That's pretty much bottom dollar cost for a (somewhat) high end gaming rig.

Building your own will save you $ vs someone doing it for you. I ran into a few brick walls rebuilding mine but the process isn't all that difficult.

Basically nothing there is worth reusing. The hard disk would be, but if it's the original one it is already old and statistically likely to break soon. Optical players are so cheap reusing one that may have dust in the eyes won't pay. Everything else is of older generation, so they won't fit into a new system.

If you don't dare to build one yourself, find a local builder shop who'd let you look over their shoulder for learning.

Because there are so many options when if comes to computer components, there are like a bazillion ways to build a PC.  That being said, here is one site's take on some parts to use, at various price points:

For trying to figure out which components fit together and for which price, www.pcpartpicker.com offers a good tool.

put up with your puter for another couple of months save another couple of hundred bucks and you will have the basis of a decent computer.

You can at least reuse your keyboard and mouse and the hd if it is 7200 rpm.   or perhaps see if anybody wants to buy your old one.   If you have win7 on your existing sometime you can reuse it.   I was able to reuse  the key from my old gateway till I upgrade to win7.

Just bought a brand new I7 4th gen desktop with Win 7, Nvidia graphics for $800 (monitor extra of course) runs everything maxed out with a solid 60fps. No sound card though but with internal sound I hooked up my old 5.1 surround system. I can see clearly now.  :D

I was due as my 2005 computer was no longer up to the task.  :airplane:

Unfortunately the same one is listed at $950 (-$50 special now) When I purchased a few weeks ago I guess I got a special deal of -$150 off.  You have to look for the Window 7 desktops. there are also some I5 deals a lot cheaper also.

The nvidia gt720 is a 40 dollar card, very low end. It cant run everything at max

With only 1GB of video RAM, even Aces High will be starved for resources with everything set to max.

Most "Source engine" based games would be hard pressed to run at max settings as well.
