With all due respect to Greebo for the time & effort...I find few air to air fights. At least during US EDT morning hours.

Bombers and GV'rs seem to find plenty to do, tho.

Perhaps more CV's are needed?

IMHO this has more to do with overall numbers than with he map itself. I see the very same effect during low number hours on almost any map (though most notably with he large ones, for obvious reasons). When few players are on, tank crater is often a deserted place as well.

I just spawned to TT center. No fellow Knights there at all. I even got a "landed" there, which means no enemies were present either.

It's one of my favorite maps! The bases aren't extremely far apart making for some good quick action and plenty of bases around to keep a defense going. That's pretty much all I look for in a map; lot's of bases that are relatively close together to keep the action going.  :aok

Low numbers make it tough but I always liked this map. Last night EST about 260-300 folks were on and were quite a few fights though I think too many rooks were tanking and trying to defend bases with only one or two others proved to be futile.

Super map but it sucks the air dry of good fights till people get tired of GV campers blowing them up every time the spawn in.

Found some good 1v1 and 1v2 fights over the crater.

The yellow letters on the clipboard map are almost imposable to see.

i was on from 6:30 til about 9:30 cdt  and wasen't as many knights at tank town as in the past..bad guys had little trouble getting up close and personal with us--even getting behind our line regularly.

I had a quick discussion on country channel this morning with Snailman about the settings in Main Arena.  I feel that the penalty for a country not defending their Strats and HQ is too excessive.

With around 15 total countrymen logged on, and a good number of them away from the keyboard, running supplies to strats in a defenseless C47, that is not able to land successful at the strat, and only to remove 4 minutes of the 3 hours of downtime from a strat or even HQ.... well, I am going to log off  :salute and now you have possibly 14 (or less if others feel the same as I do) players on to defend.

Solution:

What do I believe is a better setting?  Number one, HQ damage should repair much faster.  Number two, players involved in resupply should have more incentives to do so (starting with making strat supplies worth at least 10 minutes, since it is that way with town repairs).  Goons (C47s) should be given the same landed safely message that tanks are given (anywhere that enemy are not within certain distance).  That should also be the same for a PT boat or Storch.

An alternate approach would be to only allow country dar to be down a total of 15 minutes and link HQ down state to the mission planner instead.  Since HQ is down, the result would be no missions could be run for its entirety of being down.  The radar settings however, would pop up after 15 minutes regardless, and sooner if resupplied.

What does any of this have to do with my feelings about Crater MA?  I think that a beautiful work of art and masterpiece of design has lost its shine due to the above FUN KILLERS.  Also, I have to agree that town icons and spawn point vectors are just about impossible to see in certain yellow  areas of the clipboard map (needs a GUI function to change color).

this is a great map.  I just wish there were more high alt bases and that the strats were spread out a wee bit.

Otherwise, I think the map is one of the better maps we have.   :aok

I'm mostly an air guy but I had fun in the crater yesterday.  Of course I was mostly getting killed but it was still a blast.  I like this map.  Man, some of you guys really have those main guys dialed in.  <S>
