HP's new 'The Machine' processor thingy
« on: June 23, 2014, 11:25:02 AM »
Well.

HP says they are in development of a processing doo-dad that will revolutionize computers as we know them.

They call it 'The Machine' at the moment.

Based on photonics and memristors I read it will handle processing ~640 terrabytes of data in a billionth of a second.
That's a lot ..and that's fast.
They also said it will be scalable by size .. ie: a cell phone would be able to run with figures of ~60 terrabytes of data.
Hmm .. does that mean your cell phone will store your entire life of emails? F'rinstance?

They estimate first release before this decade is out.

What this means - no more texture map limits in a game, no more polygon limits, pixel resolution - too the MOON, Alice!
It will push the display technology to use the capability ..
..ie: I want my Holodeck!!

-just sayin (tm Pasha)

We live in exciting times.

PC gaming is dead too.  Everything (cable box, TV, gaming, social media, microwave oven, blender, toliet, etc) is going to be on the XBOX TEN!  :old:

I hope that there won't be any XBOX anymore when that happens. If the world hasn't still found competition for MS at that point we're doomed.

While it is a planned future enhancement, the XBOX ONE does not yet have toliet capabilities.  Soooo....eww.  :lol

In this picture, I am working on hooking up my Flightstick.  I'm hooking it into what I call my "Latrobe compensator," which is still under development.
