inactive game play
« on: July 02, 2014, 11:30:39 AM »
what i mean by this is,guys sitting just inside the radar zone to get a town to flash then  hide inside a barn, not playing for hours, now unless you waste all sorts of time either driving around every spawn and looking inside every barn to find the person, they may have gone to bed for the night ,gone out to dinner, whatever its crap i think.my feeling is that if you log in to "PLAY THE GAME" then you should be contributing to your sides advancement of territory,or contributing to taking a map.might there be some sort of penalty for being logged in just hiding for hours for the sake of making a base flash? A wee bit frustrated thank you for hearing me out!! :salute

what about the guys who dont give a crap about "territory" the "map" or the "war"

not that I agree with what you say some are doing...

but the MA is not just about the "war"

as a matter of fact the "war" was added to promote COMBAT...

so yes someone doing that is lame...but "fixing" it may be impossible

What difference does it make if the guy is hiding AFK or hiding while sitting in front of his monitor watching you run around looking for him?  If he is the only thing around that is making the base flash, and he's not a threat because he's not doing anything why don't you just ignore him and go to a different base?

Get out of the GV's and fly.

He is a threat. After 2 hours of a constant flashing base, there suddenly comes in a GV raid or NOE, and nobody will notice and be able to defend in time.

However, I don't see any practical solution for this other than players going out and find him... not that difficult most of the time. ;)

You could enable auto-logout after, saying 30-60 minutes of inactivity (no control inputs whatsoever). This is common in other MMO's.

So easy to get around that.

How about if someone is in the barn, and don't shoot, move and engine  is off, the town or base stop flashing after for example 15 mins?
And if you want to keep flashing, you have to start your engine or shoot.

if this person is sitting there just to make the base flash--that means they are on the field of play..and can't be and shouldn't be logged off.

the fact that his icon will be 800 kinda makes it harder to find him..

I would think the opposite to be true. The more you stay at one spot, the harder it would be to find you. Assuming you hid your vehicle well enough.

I think if the engine is turned on the icon range should go to 1.5k, if the engine is off the icon range goes to 800-1000 yards, but your turret turns 30%-50% slower. I understand some tanks couldn't turn/turned slower with their engines off.

yeah but the op is a complaint about some hard to find gv sitting somewhere for hours just making the base flash. it was just an idea to help find it.. in all honesty i couldn't care less to begin with.  flash away!

It's a part of the game. It is called a disruption of resources. If you are busy hunting for a lone sapper then you are not available to hit my base, shoot down my allied raiding force or defend your territory elsewhere. In the end this is a game of numbers so anything I can do to sway the favor elsewhere on the front to my side then I'll do it. This is an out of the box tactical approach to this wargame for those of us who are not skilled fighter pilots. Talk to the Soviet partisans behind German lines circa 1941 to 1944. It can actually be quite effective. There are times when I tied up four or five of you in your IL-2s, A-20Gs and Storches looking for my single Greyhound when you could have been tipping the odds of the schwerpunkt elsewhere. Heck, I've even shot down a fair number of you in the process which only infuriated you more and kept you coming after my nimble little six wheeled delight instead of concentrating on the main effort.

And there were many times that, without uttering a word, my teammates shifted their schwerpunkt to the base I was snooping around simply because I got it flashing. This action thus shifted the front in a new direction thus adding more dimension to the ebb and flow of the war effort while causing our adversary to adjust sometime saving one of our bases that was on the verge of collapse.

This is the beauty of a multidimensional game. I guess that's why I used to be so hooked on the Grand Theft Auto games back in the day.

I've done the "Lone Ranger" making the base flash- thing in a tank. Once in a while, I get a wild hair and want to antagonize folks at a base. Quite fun, even though I eventually get blasted.  :D
