I'm quite familiar with the situation in Greece, half my family is Greek. I just don't see how Greece being the 3rd biggest military spender in EU goes together with people starving on streets and needing billions of support money. The Greek navy was purchasing 8 billions worth of submarines all while the government can't pay their debts? Doesn't really add up.

It adds up when you consider the history of Greece vs. Turkey, the location of Greece as a borderland of western civilization, and that Greece must realize that it would be foolhardy in the extreme to count on [can't talk about it here] for help in case of international conflict.

I think Greece feels they can't count on Article 5 if they were attacked -  especially since it may be Turkey, a NATO member, doing the attacking.  Erdogan does not exactly give the NATO member Nations a "warm fuzzy feeling"

I have attended several NATO manning conferences and you would likely laugh or cry at the deliberate maneuvering by the Greek and Turkish national representatives.  It's comical but man does it slow things down.  The NAC is forced to play moderator with these two sovereign Nations -  if one of these Nations gets a Flag in a command then the other must also be compensated accordingly.  Same goes for OF5 positions.

Having said that -  Great film Panos - I really enjoyed it :aok
