Error 0x000000f
« on: July 07, 2014, 06:44:37 PM »
Today I hard stopped my PC while playing AH. After turning it back on, I got this screen.

After 2 hours and to no prevail of fixing this.... I just re-installed windows entirely, thus deleting my old version of windows 8.1 for 8.0, and erasing all of my programs/account settings.

Can anybody tell me what happened?  :headscratch:

A quick search of the error message turns up that's it usually hardware related, usually the hard drive.  Recommended fixes is to reinstall the OS and if that doesn't resolve the issue, check to make sure the hard drive isn't failing and replace if it is.

"Hard stopped your PC"??? Do you mean you pulled the electricity cord or pressed the start button for more than four seconds? Normally neither should cause issues unless there's some movement involved like throwing the PC off the table. The keyword, though, is "should". I've heard, read and experienced that Windows 8 can be quite whimsical at times. But as Ack-Ack said, test your hard drive for errors. It only takes an hour or two and if there's any errors, check if the drive is still under warranty. If the test passes you have learned the lesson of not to hard stop your Win8 PC...  :salute

Windows 8 was the first error on the hard drive.  It had no choice but to go downhill from there. :)

I've got a few, but not any spare licenses.
