Brewster Battler
« on: July 09, 2014, 09:36:12 PM »
What matches up fair and fun against our Brewster in the game?

Compare it's available historical competition in the game right now.

Am I missing any?

I-16
Yak-7B
P-40C
P-40E
P-39D

I'm sure it might have seen other Soviet or Lend Lease fighters as well. Discuss.  :) :salute
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I guess I'd like to see it in the awful f2a config... Then you could include the EW A6m's.

I believe that both the Finns and Soviets flew Hurricanes in the Continuation War.... Soviets had 210 Mk IIA, 1,557 Mk IIB, 1,009 Mk IIC, 60 Mk IID delivered. The Finns had little more than a dozen...

Yeah. Forgot them. What matches up good against the Brew though?

Well that's not something that needs to be done since P-40 and P-39 are both significantly faster:

I have had considerably more success in a Brewster than any of the planes listed as equal foes, admittedly i can't do anything but turn fight, badly.

MA is completely different environment than AvA/Special events (I've understood that those are the venues Nefarious started this thread for.). In an early Continuation War-setup Brewster would be the fastest plane for the Finns, there wouldn't be any P-51s, La-7s and Doras catching up to the P-40s and P-39 and they could extend at will with their big speed advantage over the Brewster.

Try a 109E or 109F -- they can make for a nice, tight turnfight vs. the Brewster.

Except when you out turned the little bugger you wouldn't be able to see it for the 2 inch thick canopy spars :old: :D
