What kind of stuff does the military do to vehicles before it sells them to the public?  Do they somehow deactivate the cannons?  When Glacier Girl (A P-38 stuck under ice) was brought to the surface, they shot a 55 gallon barrel with its still-working 20mm cannon just for fun (video on youtube).

I think they cap off the cannons on tanks with cement and pull out the essentials for firing shells, like the firing pin or whatever makes it go boom. They did that to the M-60 sitting at the park down the street from my high school.

I thought it was legal to own cannons in America as long as you had the right paperwork?

It is... I have a friend who owns a 3 Inch Ordnance Rifle. A common rifle field piece in the American Civil War, he can repeatedly hit a 11"x17" sheet of paper at 200 yards. He casts his own ammo, using old wheel weights.

I want a SCUD launcher now.  Just moved into a new house a few months ago....bet it would get the neighbors talking.  :lol
