Headset Voice playback
« on: July 25, 2014, 02:40:08 PM »
Finally got my good ole headset today, however it is giving me one issue that it has in the past, forgot how to fix it.

Issue being, me able to hear myself in real-time, making it hard to speak to others because I have to shout over myself !  :lol

I already went through sound, recording devices and the listen box wasn't checked. Been all over the net today looking for a way to fix it and have found none. Anyone know how to fix this issue?

Running on Windows 7

last one I had lasted me 3 years

yup that is a standar feature of your headset, sorry.  was looking at the reviews and this is the only thing I found on how to fix it.

"Some mic drivers on PC have a setting under the volume control panel/properties that prevent feedback to prevent your voice coming through the mic. Consider an internet search for this. If you know the specifics regarding your sound card/driver, enter that info also. Best wishes... "

Alright, will have to see how I fixed it. Last time I had one I was able to fix it without the 'echo'.  But that was over 4 years ago  :lol .

Thanks for your help gun,  if anyone else gets any info on the matter you can post it here. Always got an eye on the BBS  :aok .

What do you have selected for "microphone" in clipboard/options/sounds?

The in-game clipboard
:lol

*facepalm*

Guess I'm tired today.

It was initially set of the Primary Sound Driver (and Windows Default Configuration) when I went in.  Which I tested and it gives me the echo, I changed it to 'High Definition Realtek Audio" and it's still the same thing.   I also get the echo while in windows, so I wonder if it is in windows (which would make sense). But where in windows to fix a problem like this, I am unsure of.

control panel,sounds in windows!

I believe I had to delete the mic in the playback portion of windows to remove the echo.

Use the voice activation test in windows to test and see if the echo is gone, like you said it was long ago when I fixed this,I had the issue with vista and with win7 and IIRC it was the same fix for both and this was to delete the mic completely from the playback section in sounds.   You should try to disable it before you remove it completely but so long as the mic works as a recording device you shouldnt have an issue either way.

You want your headset microphone selected as the "microphone" in the Aces High clipboard/options/game sounds settings.

Didn't work sadly  :cry

It already is though.

For recording, my microphone, for playback it says "speakers". I only have my headset plugged in, yet it doesn't show a headset icon or anything referring to a headset. Which sounds like some other posts I've read on the net, where it was playing back the sounds given on the mic through the speakers.

Is there a Realtek sound manager on your PC?
