Great input guys...and here is your afternoon update

Baby's dog gonna be ok...a busted rib and a pair of wounds one on the broke rib and the other through her leg...very lucky dog...it's lucky that my big dogs came on scene before she (the chihuahua dog) suffered the same fate as the cat...

The sheriff's dept. around here would berate me for not shooting the guy's dog  :lol I've done been told by several of the deputies to blast any dog in my district that I saw as a threat...and THEN to call them so the owner could talk to them about why I (the water guy) shot Fluffy for trying to lunge at my throat...I'm always packing something   :aok

And lastly...my neighbor has already taken care of both of his dogs...I told him on the phone earlier not to do it...but...at least he did it instead of me making a tough running shot and it bleeding to death on their porch...AND he is picking up the vet bill...so I guess all has worked itself out...now I can turn my chickens out into my garden...damn grasshoppers are eating more out of it than me  ...

Don't you find it kind of strange he tells you to shoot his dogs? Is that a dare or veiled threat?

Just strikes me as an odd statement.
They're casting their bait over there, see?

Relatedly I had a farmer shoot rock salt at me when I helped sneak his daughter back in the house ( true story, I know it sounds like a bad joke...but gods honest truth )  :D

I honestly believe you.... 1972 my brothers and I and a few  friends were out on Halloween there is this real mean old man that was always mean to everybody so we decided to egg his house ohhh man wrong idea we toss the eggs. Front door came flying open and all we could hear was shotgun blasts every single one of us got peppered with rock salt lol old man Zurflugh  was his name and after that we never bothered him again  :bolt:

All I would have to say either run it by the local sheriffs/police dept. or an attorney first and see what your rights are. Always a good idea to get the neighbor to put on paper that he is ok with you shooting their dogs. To bad things couldn't have worked out better, but at least the threat is gone.

Sorry about the barn cat, I recommend having a couple of them around in rural settings for keeping the mice population down.

what are you gonna do when the dog comes and actually hurts one of your family.  You would probably not think twice of shooting if some intruder came into your property and threaten you or your family.

either shoot and by all means you have the right or wait until he hurts somebody then your gonna want to shoot the dog and your neighbor.

No problem with the dogs any more

had a farmer like that nearby when young who liked to shoot rock salt. His hay barn burned down one night (never knew what started the fire)

So you are suggesting he violate the law by threatening to shoot the neighbor in the feet?

No, I'm suggesting that the guy is an idiot, and that maybe Puller should be firmer in his interactions with said cretin.

Wow.  Just...wow.  So you let it escalate to the point where it killed your cat, maimed one of your dogs and threaten your child?  I...will be ruled 4 if I continue.  Sorry, nothing round that.
