Opening up VF-17 hog practice
« on: August 03, 2014, 12:07:57 PM »
Hog Fans,

As of this Monday (August 4th), I'll be opening up the VF-17 Hog practice to non squaddies.  If you are relatively new to the hog or squad on squad combat this probably wouldn't be a good intoduction as you'll be going up against many that have been flying them for years as a team.  But for those that have some experience with them this is a great opportunity to work against some very experienced hog sticks in a teamwork environment. This is a fun event, as we don't keep score and hell sometimes I don't even give you somewhere to land (fight to the death). HO's are discouraged but do happen, as are anything more then 2v1 (unless they know it's me, then it's for some reason encouraged).  I try to organize teams to be as balanced as possible, but I also try to keep wingman pairs together, as this is good wingman practice.  We do this at 9 central time, and common vox being 207.   We've been doing this every monday night for quite a few years now, and I try to vary the terrain and alts as to keep them fresh.  Contact me by PM if interested, and I'll get you a password to enter.

Good morning BR,
You originally posted this last Sunday, mentioning that you would be opening up your squads F4U training to all non-squad members starting last Monday...sorry I missed this, I was hands full with my youngest daughter's trips coming up from Florida and taking her back....

At what times and locations ( custom arenas, I'm assuming ) are this sessions taking place...unless all this is answered within the "pm"s you are sending out...

Going by your latest reply, this I am thinking that VF-17 Jolly  Rogers will be hosting/doing this starting tomorrow Monday August 11th at a given date and time...

I'll shoot of a PM to you and hope you might an unfilled spot left.... I'm sure that there is a lot, you and VF-17 can offer ...hopefully I might get a chance to come join in on the fun, and possibly even help out if  need be....

:«§» & cheers

Hi TC,

Yes, we'll be doing Hog practice tomorrow at 9 central time, vox 207.  Just send me a PM for the password.  I can take up to 16 hog drivers (8v8).  I didn't mention this in my PM's but try and get there 5-10 minutes early if possible so I can setup and try and balance teams.  Hope you can make it.

Damn...sorry I missed this

It's every Monday at 9 central time, VF-17 has been doing this practice for years.  I just opened it up to the general community recently.  If interested send me a PM and I'll get you a password and vox channel.

If you guys are lucky, one of these nights we'll play "fighter tag": an amazingly fun (and practical) game!

In a nutshell that's pretty close :lol.  As with many squads this time of year our numbers tend to be down and therefore practices tended to be in lower numbers.  Higher number dogfights tend to be better FSO practice, as you have to keep track of a lot more friendly and enemy aircraft just like in FSO.  So this is a big part of why I opened it up.  Plus the more aircraft the more fun it tends to be.

TC showed up last night along with the VF-17 bunch and we had some really good fights.  We did 4 on 4 and the fights went back and forth the entire time, some very intense fun.  I do think Branch37 did put a tracking device on TC's aircraft however :uhoh.

:lol :lol  Sounds like fun and will do my best to make it and try to drag some squaddies along as well   :rock

PS~ I am an average corsair pilot on a 1-5 level im a good 3 sometimes 4 depending on the day. No pro but i love to learn new stuff. I train my guys in the corsair all the time... love hearing "Every time i take up a hog i'm lucky to get a kill and here you are landing 3-5 nearly every sortie"  :lol  I have trained most of my guys as much as i can offer. Experience is everything though once the basics are taught. Hope to have some good duels soon!   :salute

Red Rover. Get shot down - switch sides. Goes until there's just one side then divy up and go again.  :D

ROFL, yes oh yes branch37 definitely had my number, think he got me dang near 5 in a row during the 4 vs 4 with each sides members continually upping! All of your squad seemed very good to me, and that RAY fella seemed to come out of nowhere top shelf stuff...

Seriously enjoyed our rolling scissors tussle BigRat, your -1A vs my -1, seemed like we was in it going vertical upward then diving downward until we finally finished it off level, you had me all shot up, pilot wounded, missing gear, guns, control s and 1/2 a wing....was one of the hardest landings I've ever have tried while blacked out.... goodtimes and good sportsmanship all around. You could have shredded me but you let me go, which only amplifies your great character

SALUTE VF-17
