Hello,

my dog caught a roof rat the other nite in the yard; had to get him to drop it. The rat didn't fair well. Thankfully no scratches on my dogs face or bites that I could see.

Our "roof rat" I'm told is the Asian brown rat; the one responsible for transporting the plague to Europe in the middle ages.   Ewwwww.   :uhoh

They live remarkably well here in the desert and are a big problem; they eat our citrus that many don't pick from the winter. They also get into attics and cause big trouble.
They're casting their bait over there, see?

Hi there, I was watching sky fall the other day and the villain was talking about how to get rid of rats or at least get then to eat each other instead of your citrus and other food you store in the attic. He says something along the lines of digging a hole with bait in it…maybe a piece of food rats desire hung from a string across the hole but inside the hole while out of the rats reach. the rats will be drawn into the hole. the food is out of reach and so they will eventually begin to eat each other. For some reason he releases the last 2 survivors, maybe so they go out eating other rats I dunno. Anyways hope this helps.

The problem in the attic is wiring; they like to chew on it and have caused many house fires.

Our attics here get up to 150 degrees; I have no idea how they can tolerate that...yet they do.

Thanks, that info does give me an idea.
