9th GIAP LA7
« on: August 10, 2014, 03:59:18 PM »

I'm not sure they will admit this in-game as it was an LA-9 combat skin but LA9's weren't used in WWII. LA9's were created shortly after WWII.
It was an LA7 Skin, but used for parades and other miscellaneous things.

edit ** found a few problems with the skin. On the nose where the Cannon covers are, they are off-set color. Partially silver partially red. Will be fixed.

Wasn't it established that it was used a couple of times in combat before it was changed back? :headscratch:

You post is a bit unclear, you seem to be saying it was both an La-7 and an La-9? What is the history of this scheme?

If it is an La-9 it shouldn't be allowed in the game. Not only was the La-9 post-war but it was a completely different airframe to an La-7.

The skin was painted on LA7's and LA9's.
I have screenshots on my PC at home but I am in MD and don't have access to the Russian PDF File that has the skin information.

It is a legit La-7 no known photos though.

http://www.airaces.narod.ru/all1/alelyhin.htm

"With this La-7 pretty soon there was an interesting story. In April 1945, as told Alexei V., one night they sat and drank with his technician. Alelyukhin talked about life after the war and that it would be nice to put a monument La-7: to paint it red and raised on a pedestal ...

The next morning the regiment raised on combat alert and Alelyukhin dressing on the move ran to his aircraft. What was his surprise when he saw that his whole machine - from nose to tail - became dazzling red!

As he later recalled Alexei V., he was "in gratitude" already reached for his gun, but the time to deal with the technician was not there. Since the last days of the war he flew the red La-7. Radiobmene Germans began to call him not only as "Russian Red Baron." Then, at the end of the fighting has driven some inspection, and La-7 Alelyukhin again became gray.

I'd like to see the red plane in game.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.
