how do you determine how many kills you have?

To get the total number of kills you unfortunately have to sum them up tour by tour. Either manually, or by using a program like Spatula's PIlot Stats tool. AFAIK you it's still possible to get it from him directly, you have to PM him.
I use mostly my own homebrew stats grabbers, but still use Spatula's tool occasionally to check validity of some of my data.
