Jerry Miculek has broken his world record for .50 cal speed shooting.  6 shots on target in less than 1 second with a Barrett semi auto.  Filmed in slow motion from a couple angles as well.

Jerry is a trick shooter, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the chops to use that Barret in the method it was designed for.  Jerry regularly shoots 200 and even 400 yard 6" steel targets with things like .380 short barrel pistols, and is able to be either fast (the fastest so far as pistol trick shooting goes, in the world right now), as well as accurate at long range.  He's just an excellent all round shooter in any discipline, and goes after world records wherever they might be.  Obviously shooting a semi auto .50 in this way isn't something that would be "seriously" employed other than in a trick shooting environment.

Check out his youtube channel, he has videos with HD head cams of him running through various courses of fire in national level 3 gun competitions, and winning many of them.  He's exceptional with pistol, carbine, long rifle, and shotgun.  Since Bob Munden died, he's IMO the best all round competition and trick shooter around.

Agreed that it isn't "real world practical" but still an impressive feat in its own right.  looked to me like the only thing really keeping him from shooting faster is the cycle rate of the gun itself. He appeared to have the trigger already depressed for shots 2 and 3 before the bolt slid home.  Entertaining video

Not to put too fine a point on it but basically that's an exercise in holding on tight and trigger control.  Cool and all, but I wouldn't say it would be that difficult to keep it on a man sized target at that range.  Now if he took the muzzle brake off it, that would be something.

Now hitting the 6" target with a .380 at 200 yards on the other hand...  The guy's a helluva shot any way you cut it.

He's much more than a trick shooter. By far one of the best in the shooting sports. I had the pleasure of meeting him and holding one of his IPSC wheelguns at a competition here in PA. Also gave me a few pointers for my draw to shave a few tenths off my time. We met thru a mutual acquaintance   (Doug Koenig whom also shoots for S&W). Nicest guy you will ever meet

In my opinion, Jerry is the best all around competition shooter alive today.

I've followed him for years, and subscribed to his youtube channel when he started it.  With every new video he puts out I am more and more amazed at his skills.  Some of it may "look" easy, but it ain't, it's the result of DECADES of daily practice.

Not to put too fine a point on it but basically that's an exercise in holding on tight and trigger control.

Yes, it is that, well, that and speed, and recoil management, and strenght... and that does not diminish the feat.  It's an easy to say, not so easy to do, I bet that less then 1 in 10 experienced shooters could pull that off with that kind of speed, and less then 1 in 1000 of the general population. (if you watch the slo-mo, he is faster then the cycle rate of the rifle, it's impossible to shoot that rifle any faster)  He did a video with iraqveteran8888, where Jerry shoots as fast with a stock semi-auto AR-15 as the other guy with a bump-fire-stock AR-15.

How about when he hits an 18" plate, at 1000yds, with a 9mm revolver, on the second shot.  The man is simply amazing, and he has a lot of fun doing it too.

99% of people who try that would either be 1) much, much slower.  2) Not even on paper after the first shot, or 3)give up because they are barely able to hold up that 30lb rifle.

Maybe it doesn't look that impressive to the lay person, but as a shooting feat it is very impressive.

.  I never said he was "just" a trick shooter.   I worked with Ernest Langdon when I worked with SigArms, and I felt that he was one of the best all round shooters I'd ever worked with, been trained by, or just seen shoot.  His record stands for itself as well - Distinguished Masters in the International Defensive Pistol Association with 10 National Championship Shooting titles and 2 World Speed Shooting titles as well as a Grand Master Class rating from the United States Practical Shooting Association.  Before he did all that he ran the USMC Sniper and high altitude shooting schools.  He's also a brilliant instructor.  Well, when I heard somebody ask him once after he just won a major event by a large margin who the best shooter in the world was, he instantly answered Jerry Mick.  

That's the kind of shooter Jerry is, where guys who are in the top .0001 percent of the shooting world pretty much all agree that he's without peer.  Consider his age as well, and how well he can still throw down, it's absolutely incredible how fast his reactions are still.  To me that's where he really stands apart, is that he just seems to be getting faster as he's getting older, not slower.  

He's very passionate about every single aspect about shooting, his youtube channel is excellent as well, he gives very measured and balanced reviews on products as well as techniques, and is just an all round positive guy.

Bob Munden was great.  I wish youtube had some footage of him in his prime.  Back in the 80's I got to see a video of his that showed him doing some shots that he wasn't doing later in life.  My favorite was watching him fan 5 shots from a single action colt at about the same speed as a machine gun cycles.

Tom Knapp was pretty great too, he died last year about the same time Bob Munden did and he was still setting records until shortly before his death.

I'd forgotten about mentioning Tom Knapp, good call Rob - he was such a fantastic shotgun shooter, but shot everything else well obviously too.  I good showman and easy to watch on TV as well, he was great for TV shooting sports.
