There are no known ones around here. Since it has become more public now, maybe some people can get together and start actively hunting for them

Yes that's how man in the middle attacks work. Someone taps between you and your service provider without you knowing. The threat of this is becoming more common with the popularity of wireless internet connections rising.

I can guarantee you that even though the popularity of wireless internet connection is rising that they wont be able to intercept my banking info using cell towers or wifi.

I guess you like to line up at the service counters then :D

And even then you're not really safe since banks themselves are connected to the internet and get hacked.

Just in case you have something smart-arsed to say about that TOO: http://www.cnet.com/news/jpmorgan-hackers-altered-deleted-bank-records-says-report/

dont forget people can also kidnap me and force me to take all the money out.  or the bank can be robbed just as I am walking out with millions in cash.

dude, we talking about wifi and cell towers.  and my guarantee is due to the fact that I dont use either for banking.  and only time I go to the bank is to deposit a check.

and I never said i was totally safe, i just said I am safe from wifi and fake cell towers  :D.

but feel free to spin it another 4 or 5 pages, you love doing that  :salute.

On the contrary you seem to extend losing arguments like a hobby. Regardless of the fact, many people are affected by this vulnerability. I carry three different LTE providers with me at most times so I'm with a fast connection in most places where I go.

ok please enlighten me since I am getting paranoid here.  how can somebody intercept my banking information with either wifi or fake cell towers when I dont do banking using wifi or cell phones?

and dont bring up the "they can hack into the bank....".  that's not what we are talking about.  we are just talking about people intercepting my banking info thru cell towers or wifi.

The world doesn't revolve around you guncrasher. I already stated that you have to physically go to the bank to not be vulnerable to this attack and even then the bank itself may be hacked, exposing you.

you mean that a hardwired connection to my bank can be intercepted by wifi or fake cell towers?  just wondering because that's how I do all my banking.  not thru cell phones or wifi's.

You most likely do not own a private copper line directly to the bank so yes, at any router your connection to the bank can be intercepted and routed through an attackers computer. This router most commonly is the one you own yourself. Home routers have been found to be the number one vulnerability in modern day networks. Most people never even change the admin passwords and leave the boxes at default settings.
