Said the owner of the Ravens Steve Bisciotti during the unveiling of a statue of Ray Lewis just two years removed from the NFL.  :rolleyes:

I have followed the career of Ray Rice since his days at Rutgers where he would gash the WVU and PITTs defenses and then onto the NFL where he often gave the Steelers Defense trouble. During that span we were bombarded by stories of Ray Lewis mentoring Rice and becoming a fatherly figure to him. Lewis would be seen at games life-coaching Rice from the sidelines. Lewis was a big factor in Rice's drafting by Baltimore.After Lewis's murder charges, plea bargain and settlements, can we be surprised by Rice's actions?

IMO this is huge egg on the face of the NFL, Ravens org and Ray Lewis. Even though the NFL denies any knowledge of the released video, I believe the Ravens ownership and possibly the NFL had to have seen it prior to being released and were hoping one of its star players would only sit for two games.

Sickening really. Really shameful of the NFL if true.

It is sickening.  After he knocked her out the way he dragged and dropped her unconscious body around was absolutely appalling.

Then she married him.  Unbelievable.

I saw the video this morning and posted on social media that I hoped they banished him.  Looks like there's a step in that direction but I'm wondering what the players union will say.

Because she was just in it this long for the money, or because this is a wakeup call?  I don't think its time to be blaming the victim here, if you were leaning towards the former.

I'm not blaming the victim at all. The vast majority of domestic violence situations go unreported and even after an arrest the battered spouse often attempts to drop charges. When the abuser is the bread winner, it makes leaving the situation much more difficult. Now that the income is in doubt she may follow through particularly if the high profile case can attract some pro bono attorneys. It isn't a stab at her or any woman, it is simple proven psychology/sociology.

I finally got a chance to look at the video, and it is pretty sad.

That said, I'll bet he will hire some dirtball attorney to make her look like the aggressor. She clearly swung at him before they entered the elevator and he may have felt threatened!

What surprises me the most is that the inside the elevator video was released.

Unfortunately, this kind of behavior in/around the NFL surprises me none.

You'd imagine there was plenty of blackmail, but maybe, just maybe there was a decent soul who decided they were releasing this regardless. If the NFL couldn't buy them off...I'd like to meet that person. Maybe they kept it hush and stole a copy? Wonder if we'll find that part out.

I like the way the security gut left to door open so the camera can keep rolling--ray rice deserves to go to prison for that.

maybe so del but in no way that half hearted swing would have hurt him---and  she did not deserve what he did to her.
