CV Lock
« on: September 10, 2014, 10:50:04 AM »
A checkbox in the CV control panel that would disable all flight/vehicle spawn/manned guns in a task group. A CV commander could then maneuver the group into a desired position without running the risk of an individual alerting the enemy to the fleet's presence (auto ack reacting to an enemy threat still applies). If a player gives up command or is forced to relinquish control to a higher rank, then the setting is reverted back to open play. This is designed to help CV commanders with a plan in mind to get a task group into position with stealth so as to launch a coordinated attack later on. Of course, I'm the optimistic type so i see no way this could possibly be abused.

Regardless, flame suit on.

Only if the commander has to stay on board.

And active.  The commander would need to input controls or answer an occasional pop-up occasionally to ensure he is present and active.

The problem with any command structure is that everyone in our navy is an Admiral...

Sure the staying active idea sounds nice but forcing them to stay on board is plain ridiculous.

I thought about a pop up window timer to revert back to open play if the commander was inactive, but Its not necessary to stay active while controlling the CV as is.

That attitude has precisely no place in online game design.  If it can be abused, it will be abused.

If you want to lock down a cv for your personal use then you should have to stay there and use it.

Imagine the "spies" complaint for people locking down a cv who may have switched.  And of course there are those that WILL switch to lock out cv's.

Yeah I know, that was sarcasm sadly. The good i thought it would do to save a CV for optimum use could very well be off set by the abuse players would cause to lock it to better destroy it.

Depending on perspective, any feature of this game has the potential to be abused.

I don't think it is ridiculous. I want to be able to take off, I want to use the guns on that other fleet right over there that is shelling the crap out of our boat. I don't want to plead with Admiral Distracted to pretty please let me try to defend. It is bad enough now with AFK brass. A "must reply or lose command" pop up would be great.

I say if you want to limit other players you should have to at least show up. No REMFs please.

It would probably be best to just rid of the whole command feature, I'm sure no one will just want to sit on deck doing nothing but watching people take off and land for as long as the cv is up if you people don't want them playing the game the way they want to.

Plus no one will have to worry about spies taking command.

Aren't you kinda limiting players by making em sit in the bridge when in command? :headscratch:

I don't know how many times a single person has caused the CV to be destroyed after someone has been waiting for hours to move it into position...  :bhead

Now think of how often a CV will be a sitting duck unable to strike out because of a single player locking it up...
