I agree that having 'a name in lights' is attractive to some players, including potential new players in the future. We currently only acknowledge individual successes once a month.
I quit Fighter Ace in 2000, so my memory is a little dodgy. Wasn't the player call sign displayed as part of the A/C icon in game with the 'rack' tagged onto the end of it?
As a general rule, if I remember correctly, the largest racks (sometimes over 50 kills) were worn by the guys we love to hate here. There's nothing like an icon that looked like "Xabbaras **********" to clutter up your gun sight. Especially when the pilot in question was picking the edges of a furball all night.
Since we don't display call-signs on icons, just the A/C type, you could put something like that on the in-game roster, perhaps. I wouldn't look at it anyway. Obviously, I don't care too much about scores and 'racks', but others might like it.
I also remember the notion of military ranks in Fighter Ace. It took the average jasper about 3 hours of killing newbies in the training arena to make General although the majority of players earned it properly over time.
I'm all for things that will bring folks back to this game. Even this, I suppose. But I'd like to see new ideas not inspired by games that folded. How does War Thunder acknowledge their successful players today? <--- a serious question. Since Gaijin is really the same Russian designers and coders from 'Fighter Ace', are they doing 'racks' and such? I really don't know.
