You have passports and checkpoints and all that stuff in the European Union.

When I get into a car and drive from here through the Netherlands and Belgium to France, I would not have to show my passport even once. I wouldn't even drive through any checkpoint at all. Our local border to the Nether lands for example is for the most part very hard to notice, it's just that suddenly the roadsigns are different ;)

But of course, all those countries are still sovereign, independent countries. There's no real EU government. And as far as i know there ain't no Texan ambassadors to to Ohio or North Caroline either. USA, as a sovereign nation is a UN member, the EU is not - because it ain't one.

Each state can make its own little laws, all of which are trumped by Federal law.  But no one even gives a second thought to crossing a state's border.  You have passports and checkpoints and all that stuff in the European Union.  Plus we all speak the same language in the U.S. That's a huge difference compared to the EU right there.

Apart from the language thing, that's completely wrong. My country is not even a member nation, only part of the European Economic Area (EEA), the economic union if you will. Still I can get in my car right now and drive from Northern Norway all the way to the boot of Italy and never have to show my passport. The EU and extended to other non member nations through the EEA provides for the free movement of goods, persons, services and capital throughout Europe. Many if not most pensioners in my country have second homes in Southern Europe to get away from the cold winters here. Spain is very popular.

Yes it is.

Last I checked, it's "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America."

Not "I pledge allegiance to the flag of Missouri."

So go crawl back under your bridge, troll.

So go crawl back under your bridge, troll.

Strange that pointing out that the UNITED States of America is a federated union like the EU and Russia should be considered trolling.  :huh

Just because you are ignorant of it doesn't mean it isn't true.

Oh... and as for borders in the USA... I recall seeing a rather amusing film years ago about smuggling beer across state borders... Apparently "Smokey" took offense to that.
