Even Aces High, at 5760x1080p, with full detail AND - this is important - the environmental cranked to maximum, WILL drop into the 40s, 30x, and I've even seen high 20's over a busy tank town with, again, the details all maxed and the environmental slider on max.

Report back on the environmental slider, due to the way AH has been coded I have serious doubts your GPU upgrade affects it at all. :)

I can't agree. I tried, but I just can't. You have given me a reason to upgrade though, Ripley. I read through the article at Anandtech a lot more closely and I see reason to go for it, and yes it will be 2 x 980 in SLI. Thanks!
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

I'm going to get an x99 and run tri-SLI with 3 970s or 980s just to make MrRipley happy as well.  This way I can run a single cable from each card to a different monitor, as having 2 cables plugged into one of just two SLI video cards looks uneven, and each monitor having it's own video card will look more streamlined when I zip tie the cables together.

That's 3 so far, anyone else on board?
