Wow.

I recently read that Norway will provide free university education for anyone in the world who wants to take advantage of it.  Only the fees.  Plus, you have to do the courses in Norweigan.

Darn fine idea that....not like you guys need the money but the trickle down effect to the economy would be very beneficial.  Norway has so much oil money that it will soon own a good chunk of the world ffs.

No, everyone will NOT eat Lutefisk for a daily snack.  Nope.  Maybe an annual snack to lessen the effects of intense famine and starvation after all the dumpster sludge has been consumed.

Lutefisk is our gift to the world... You're welcome!

Horrifyingly, Lutefisk is not the worst "delicacy" we have to offer...

Back in 1999 I went on a backpacking trip. I had 40 days to travel Scandinavia and then 30 days in Scotland and England.
I made the mistake of starting with Norway - I ended up spending all 40 days in Norway not seeing any other part of Scandinavia, and after that all other things failed to impress me, not even Scotland. The Norwegian bar was just too high.

What parts of Norway did you visit? How far north did you get?

From memory:
Started in Oslo, then moved towards Bergen with several long hikes on the way (Hardangervidda region if I recall the name correctly). Stryn area including summer ski  Then up to Trondheim, the Lofoten islands and more walks there. Made it back to Bergen with the costal steamer (Hurtigruten?). Most of the time I slept in my tiny little tunnel-tent which in Norway I was allowed to pitch almost everywhere sensible. ####ing awesome trip!

I started on June 21st so these were the longest days of the year. Up in Lofoten I completely lost track of the time of day because of this and ended up eating lunches at 3 A.M. It was really weird seeing the sun going around in circles, not rising much and not setting.

Isn't free if you take up residence in another part of the world. You have to pay it back. My sister-in-law has spent the last 13 years doing just that. Serves her right for moving to Australia.
