GeForce Game Ready 344.48
« on: October 22, 2014, 05:25:34 PM »
Kepler and Fermi drivers are available to bring Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) support to those GPUs. This is my favorite part of Maxwell and now you can have it without having to upgrade.

And Nvidia fixed the bug in the Geforce Experience software so it works again with SweetFX.

GeForce Experience required to run DSR?  I was hoping it wasn't, as I was on 344.16, and I noticed a few other minor bugs, but in this new version I'm also finding that it won't appear in the specific 3D configs for many older games.

GeForce Experience has also been causing problems with the film viewer.  Hopefully that is fixed as well.

I wonder why Nvidia wants us to experience the negative experiences that Geforce Experience seems to 'offer'. I never install it.

I don't use the Experience app. The way I got it working in AH is to configure for a single monitor and then even at 1920x1080 you can activate DSR from the Nvidia Control Panel Global Settings panel. If it shows up on an individual games settings I have not seen it. You should then be able to turn off AA and still see the effect of AA through downsampling, but of course it will depend on how far you push the factors setting. My system is fairly high-end and at 1920x1080 I get the worst performance at 50fps in AH offline with everything active and the highest texture settings. It does significantly improve at higher resolutions.

EDIT: I was mis-remembering. When I tried to turn AA up to x2 my frames dropped to 50fps. With AA off you cannot tell that you are not using AA and my frame counter remains at 59-60 (I believe the 59 is a Windows issue).

D'ld it yesterday but haven't installed them.

When I do I'll post back on how it went w/ my 780Ti.

Looks like I may have got my new 2133Hz quad channel mem kit just in time........................

Ok, I have installed the Nvidia 344.48 drivers (installed the graphics driver & Physix software only).

Went into NVCP......DSR was there. After I set up the rest of the driver settings to my "defaults".....I set the DSR to 1.2%(native resolution......2560 x 1440 on my box) & DSR smoothness to 80%.

Went in AH & checked the resolution setting choices under Video Settings & guess what I saw....the DSR created res of 2804 x 1577! I picked it & saved.

Then went into the game & I could see the new res being applied....

Picked a field & went up in me ole Spitty & all was looking very good....780Ti was handling the DSR created res very well w/ no hiccups at all.

Very impressive I must say.

At this point it looks like a winner from my perspective.

More testing on the horizon to see how all performs at greater DSR % but it's looking good on my box at this moment.

Increasing the mem frequency another 533Hz brought some more zing to my old crate as well....very noticeable performance improvement...not necessarily FPS as this box was already running 59-60 FPS on the DDR3 1600 kit but the increased control response (read less lag between the stick being moved to the screen response in kind) & snappiness along w/ smoothness of the graphics (read lower graphics frame timing here) that I saw & felt due to the increased mem speed of the 2133Hz quad channel mem kit over the 1600Hz quad channel mem kit has got to help as well.

Good AAR Pudgie.  I'm going to try it out tonight myself with AH, only on a 1080P monitor, but one of the best 1080p TN panels at least.  I usually see 143/144 fps with AH with the 144hz monitor max setting, I'm interested to see the performance and look of DSR on it.  Good news is that my 15 day wait list for the ROG Swift is over, I snagged one this afternoon and they shipped it already, might have it by the weekend if I luck out.  I really am looking forward to DSR with Gsync at 1440p and 144hz, so long as it's all working together now.

Yes, Pudgie put in a few details I forgot to throw in, like setting your native resolution in NCP, and then you will find the DSR resolution in the AH window. You can check as many options in NCP as you like and they will all show up as options in AH. It's going to take some time to settle on a favorite configuration.

I really love the weld lines on the JagdPanzers just to start with. It's almost like exploring a whole new game for the moment.

I agree Chalenge, this is pretty cool.  AH is hitting a really sweet spot IMO with these new capabilities from Nvidia and various monitor makers, with the new update coming.  Even without it, there is a pile of cool stuff to look at in a new way in the current game.  I'm pretty impressed.

I made another run w/ DSR set @ 2.25% native resolution & 80% smoothness.

This puts the DSR created res at 4K (3840 x 2160).

AH was friggin beautiful & the 780Ti ran this w/ no issues at a steady 59-60 FPS.

I had a much larger post going that included all my settings on my box but I forgot to hit post again after I did the 1st time & got the warning message when you posted Gman.......too worn out to retype it now....... :old:

I also believe that Nvidia has a winner going here...........poor man's way to have 4K (or greater) res quality on yesterday's hardware & performance.

Pretty brave thing to do just after launching their latest flagship products w/ this same capability................... ...

 :aok  :salute

PS--Forgot to mention that at 4K DSR created res the ole GTX 780Ti was pushed to the max....using 92%-95% GPU power to maintain 59-60 FPS at 1020MHz w/ GPU temps at 70*C-72*C w/ fan at 100% but she hung it there!

Yes, pretty brave I guess. . . or generous.

I think we are going to need a patch for AH so that text is still readable. I have my fonts set to maximum already, and it's really tough with 4.0x factors. Or. . . maybe there is a setting in AH I don't know about.
