Game crashing when tabbing back in.
« on: October 30, 2014, 12:25:57 PM »
I typically tab out on climb out to do other things, but once in awhile when I tab back in my game crashes. This caused me to lose a 262 and a tempest in the past 2 days  :mad

Not really sure how to fix  :headscratch:

Ummmm maybe stop alt/tabbing in and out?   :devil

Does your computer take a long time to load everything when you come back to the game?  You may have a memory issue or your settings are set to high for your computer.  If it takes to long to reload the game may take it as a disco and complete the drop.

There are a million things that can cause that.  Anti-xxx, malware, and/or spyware are the most likely candidates.
It could also be the video card driver.
It could be resource issues.  The game fighting with something else for the resources it needs.  If this happens, all bets are off.  Stability will get bad.
It really is just a guess as to what is causing it.
How about a DXDIAG output to start with along with the game settings.  Also, what programs are you running when you alt-tab out?  They can interfere with the game too.

The only antivirus I have is malwarebytes. I usually run chrome with a few tabs open. How would one go about getting a dxdiag output? (I have it open right now I don't know what part of it you want)

I have an FX-4170 at 4.5GHz & GTX 670 with 4GB of vram

Do you want an in game ss of my settings or the config file?

On the bottom of the dxdiag window is a button that says "save as..." save it as a text someplace you can find it. Email the whole thing to skuzzy or post the first third (cut and paste) up to and including <SOUND DEVICES>

Might want to update that RealTek audio driver.

Also, is that system overclocked?

Ill do that when I get home. And yes the CPU is overclocked from 4.2 to 4.5 and the gfx card is bumped up a bit (not that much, no voltage change.)

I had 3 more crashes yesterday due to tabbing back in.

Go back to standard clocks and see if it stabilizes.
The game has no control over these kinds of crashes.  Something it getting messed up in memory.
