This week in AvA--- Battle of Somme-- MORE !
« on: October 31, 2014, 12:56:19 PM »
Yes we had to do it ! One more time with this setup !

The Battle of the Somme, also known as the Somme Offensive,
was a battle of the First World War fought by the armies
of the British and French empires against the German Empire.
It took place between 1 July and 18 November 1916 on both sides
of the River Somme in France. The battle was one of the largest
of World War I, in which more than 1,000,000 men were
wounded or killed, making it one of humanity's bloodiest battles.

The battle is notable for the importance of air power
and the first use of the tank. At the end of the battle,
British and French forces had penetrated 6 miles (9.7 km)
into German-occupied territory, taking more ground than
any offensive since the Battle of the Marne in 1914.
The Anglo-French armies failed to capture Péronne and
were still 3 miles (4.8 km) from Bapaume, where the
German armies maintained their positions over the winter.
British attacks in the Ancre valley resumed in January 1917
and forced the Germans into local withdrawals to reserve
lines in February, before the scheduled retirement to
the Siegfriedstellung (Hindenburg Line) began in March.

In our Setup, the Axis bases will have the DR.I and the D.VII
the British will have the Camel and the F.2B

battle will ensue at bases
Knight V4 and V6
Bishop V5 and V7
(center of terrain)

only jeeps, Sdkfz251, and jagtpanzers
(to emulate WW1 tanks) will be enabled.

Allies(Bishops):
F.1 camel
F.2b

jagtpanzer 38(t)
sdkfz251
jeep

Axis(Knights):
Dr.I
D.VII

jagtpanzer 38(t)
sdkfz251
jeep

ack set at .001 for playability purposes.

No tanks would be better, imo.

There were tanks in WWI just like in WWII. We are trying to be as historic as we can, so asking us to not have tanks just because we put one in that doesn't sound right is like not using outfielders in a game of baseball.if you don't like a choice of plane or tank, then please offer up a suggestion. Not just tell us that it's wrong. This is just my opinion, so please don't take offense.
