Setting bomb delay
« on: November 07, 2014, 01:02:20 PM »
It would be very usefull if people could set the delay for bombs and the 1000 foot free fall was removed, as the latter was never used irl as far as know. This would allow skip bombing, mast head attacks, lower angle "glide bombing" with better acuracy, the list goes on. I believe this would be a very usefull addition to the game.  :salute

I never considered the why to HiTech choosing 800ft for the arming distance a bomb has to travel. I'm not sure if he modeled the distance the MK108 fuse has to travel spinning before it unlocks itself. The Wgr 21 fuse didn't unlock for about 100-110m.

Like many things in AH, HTC had to choose between gameplay and reality, and draw the line somewhere.

I have no issues with the current minimum bomb travel settings.

NOE buffs dropping 2 second delayed fuse bombs for the aircraft following them.  No thanks.

I've done that with the cookie bomb with the current settings, your point? It's possible now.

You would think this tactic would be used in WT a lot, but so far I've yet to see it actually used.  Though I am aware that it has, and does, get used there every now-and-again.  I don't see it being as much of an issue here either.  Truthfully, if you are following in a manner that gets you killed by said delayed bomb, then quite frankly you deserved it.

That being said, I'd like to see parafrag bombs and the like, that were using in the Pacific by B-25's.

As for delay fuse, I think it would hurt more than add at this point in time.  Though I personally wouldn't mind seeing it implemented eventually. :aok
