In this case the term "super cheap" depends on the purpose it will be used for. In Ripley's case he can save a couple of working hours every now and then. For his employer those hours may cost way over $/€50 each including all the statutory social and insurance costs we have here. Four such test runs he described will pay the SSD back for his company.
On the other hand, for me it would be a total waste of money. So would a Ferrari for any price, even "free" would be too much even if the fuel and maintenance costs were included! Of course it would be something to brag about, but I don't believe a Ferrari would excel in winter driving nor would it be handy for transporting goods from and to my customers - who might start to think I don't need their money for my living...
