I would prefer the 3D discussion to move to its own thread.

Nathan, the beam laser "melted metal track" has been there all along - it's not new to 1.1. You just had to get close enough to the other ship to see it. And even if someone else already "discovered" a system, as long as it shows "undiscovered" by your ship's computer, you can scan it and sell the data too. You just won't get your name in lights as "first discovered by".
Yeah, I know it sells for less as well tho, kind of ruins my nerdgasm knowing that I m not the first to a system. Loving the whole your own point defense turrets taking out your missiles bug too.

What is your name in game Dot?

Edit I also see the effect of the multicannons I am going to have to start looking tosee what the railgun does.

OP is right - regarding that, I've been waiting for this day, the release of the 1.1 to see if I should get into this or not.  I have a dozen games sitting I still haven't even tried yet, which makes even entertaining a new space sim ridiculous probably, but in this case an exception is probably warranted - I hope.  Which is why feedback is not just solicited it's needed!  What is 1.1 like, what has it changed or made better, and fixed and so on.

The one thing stopping me is I always prefer the "fight" game to the mine/haul game, and it seems if you attack people with cargo, you get hugely penalized in the game, and get fines and markers and stuff that really limit your success.  Is there targets you can often attack without getting a penalty?  This is truly what has kept me out of it this long, thinking I"ll have to resort to killing only the rarely seen "bad guy" without incurring some dumb penalty and fine, and have to resort to basketweaving missions, which is boooo.

You ship has a auto-scanner that will do a basic scan of a targeted ship. You will find out the ship type, pilot name (NPC name or human "CMDR" name), and if they are "wanted" in the current star system. If they are wanted, you can open fire immediately and if you kill them, you can collect any bounty on them. If they are not wanted in the system, if they shoot and hit you first, they become wanted, and you can kill them.

There is also something you can buy called a "Kill Warrant Scanner". This is a deeper scan of the GalNet system and will uncover any addition bounties against the targeted vessel. It covers all system in the galaxy, not just the current one you're in. In an Anarchy system, there is no local law, so everyone shows as "clean" and you need to do a KWS to determine if they have any bounty at all. But, you also do not get charged with a crime if you shoot at them first.

You will find many people "afraid" of PvP encounters, and they'll either run away, pull the plug (yes that does happen), or call you a "griefer" because you shot them. lol

Thing ut people being labeled a greifer is that the limpets aren't working I heard so pirates try to pop open your cargo hatch but end up popping your hull, if they could fix the limpets I think their would be less greifing then again there are dorks that like to fire DF missiles towards a station and when your point defense goes off you hit the station and get blasted. I know fixes are in the works for this and the wire jigglers. Games not perfect but the is no subscription. I got it cuz I figured Id get my 50 bucks out of it and I have done so in spades. The new heat changes I hope will balance combat a lil more when It comes to pvp hate getting salvo after of salvos and beams keeping my shields down with what seemed like no heat discipline.

I've been a backer for SC for a while, but after reading this thread I decided to grab a copy of ED. I've only done the tutorial missions (still downloading the full game) but first impression is, like someone already mentioned, combat seems a little better in SC. Controls in SC seem to cater to combat and the early ships seem more maneuverable. That being said, ED seems to have more focus on the exploring and vastness of space which I'm excited to check out. I'm not real interested in the combat aspect of either game anyway.

Interesting game.

Commander Pythicles

I'll be sending out requests this weekend to all those who posted their in-game names... Currently around the Allobog system collecting bounties in my shiny new viper...

Thinking I want the explored by tag though, may switch it up. Just tried mining in my adder last night... Not impressed. Especially after collecting 250k bounties from flipping from resource collection site to resource collection site and using K-warrant scanner on every wanted ship.

I am an early backer at SC as well, I have a very low membership number, and have been flying it for quite a while and frequently in the arena, in the Arena Commander head 2 head games.  The ability to use trackIR to aim your gimbal mounted guns along with the decoupling ability and various flight modes makes for a very complex dogfighting environment, with a lot of potential "moves" out there.

The game itself though is quite boring beyond that, since it's in the infancy stages really.  I'm looking for other stuff to do, hence the ED queries, but I don't want a game where fighting is somehow penalized, and if you attack some guy just minding his business, you have to grind away to get rid of penalties for doing so.  That seems lame to me, and is what is still holding me back.  I want to be able to attack anyone I want without penalty, they should either be able to defend themselves or suffer the consequences IMO, a game where trash haulers and explorers are protected in the same space where fighters want to fight - no thanks.

Pretty much the same impression I've gotten from both games. Picked up ED for the same reason, basically a game to get my space fix in until SC gets further along.

also forgot in my first post, name in both games is Dom1no.
