Back after a long, shall we say, pause.
« on: November 30, 2014, 02:44:35 AM »
Greetings All!

Had a blast tonight - for all the naysayers our there, AH is all I remember and just as fun.  Congrats to all the many who shot me down, and condolences to those that I managed (through some miracle) to hit.

Thanks to the guys who talked to me and invited me to their squad channel.  Hopefully I can make this part of my weekend routine.

Regards,
Mole

Welcome back, Mole. A few weeks to knock the rust off and it'll be like you never left.
Good hunting!

Best regards, Odd

Welcme back and judging by the couple times I was up against you last night I would say you were gone about an hour right?  :D
Because you certainly had little rust that I could see. Was great fun and courtesy as well. Hope to see you back and I know what it's like trying to snag some time in the air whenever it's available.

Hate to "naysay" if statistics can be called "naysaying" but I do believe Nov. of 2014 is the first time the combined K/D of all three arenas went under 500,000 at around 488,000. Nov. of 2007 had about 1.6 m so we have lost over 2/3 'rds of the players base, "add another one in about 18 days". The last time I played one of these huge maps with about 200 people on it, probably over 1/2 in tanks, and after the third time some moron bombed and bailed on our HQ I said to myself, "this sucks".

AH is nothing like I remember, it didnt "suck" back then. Gee whiz, sorry if I broke some rule by saying so but you dont lose over 66% of your players by not sucking.

You can't directly convert K/D to playerbase ;)

Sure AH has changed as far as player numbers, but so what?  Its still a fun way to push all the day's issues out of my head by filling it up trying to shoot straight and work the controls.

I can't change AH and don't know what would get it back to peak player counts if I could.  Complaining about player numbers probably only hurts recruitment and retainment, so that seems self destructive.  It doesn't suck.  Aside from player counts, I think the game itself is better than it was at peak player numbers.  What's hot and popular changes, player demographics change, interest in genres change, what the competition looks like changes.  AH is fun as hell.

Welcome back Mole!

Your right. The player base loss might be even higher then the stats indicate thru K/D. Even worse is the loss of long time experienced players, but the "2/3'rds" mark feels about right to me when I log onto empty skies.

But hey if the Op is having fun coming back then good for him. You can still scratch a good night or two out the of the game if you play prime weekends.

Hate to "naysay".

Bullcrap.  If you hate it so much why do you keep at it.  We get it, you're not happy with where you think the game is going, you've told us 1000 times, it's not a surprise.

How about not hijacking this guy's thread where he is announcing his comeback, and also telling us how much fun he is having, just so you can poop on the game again.

Welcome back Mole <S> glad you are having fun sir.
