No Sound?
« on: December 14, 2014, 09:25:23 AM »
Can someone kindly direct me to a troubleshooting thread for this problem? All the sudden I have no sound in Aces High (no problems with other games)...player since 2001.
Thanks!
Paul

Have you checked the game Clipboard: Options > Preferences > Game sounds?

Yes - been changing them back and forth to try to get sound with no luck - the problems started after I switched from speakers to headset settings in that menu; then after I lost sounds been changing the various combinations of input and output with no luck :huh Reinstalled Aces High as well. Very odd.

Look into Windows' Control Panel > Sound to see which devices you have there as default for playback and recording, then make the game sound options the same.

IIRC there has been some talk about fixing game related sound problems if the above doesn't work. Can't remember when, where, by whom or how it was done, sorry.

Aargh - tried that - didn't work - stumped! :headscratch: I note the Volume settings are greyed out in the sounds options?

If you have Exclusive Mode set in the control panel sound applet for playback and recording devices then it can cause all kinds of trouble.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

If you have other software controlling your sound, check in there that your set to the right default - I have realtek sound manager and that does it to me when I plug something in.

If you have this, you should have an icon on your systray (bottom right of your screen - if its not there, click the up arrow and see if its in your hidden icons.

It's also in the Control Panel.

Something's definitely going on as a result of my ill-advised fiddling with that Realtek sound manager in the toolbar! But when I've fiddled with the in-game sound preferences to match I still get no sound! Hopefully someone at HiTech will respond to my email with a fix!
Eureka! They fixed it - woohoo! Thanks to all and HTC!
