FDR only did what was needed to win the war, lead what would later be known as the "Greatest Generation", and died while doing it.  But despite all this gets no love from certain types due to Rule 14ish stuff.  It is shameful.

It could also be argued that his inaction and actions towards certain issues led to the war.

Do you mean his actions or inactions lead to U.S. involvement in WWII?  Or lead to the entire War itself?

My understanding is the seeds of WWII were sowed in the Treaty of Versailles, ending WWI.  The harsh, punitive treatment of Germany lead to its economic collapse, political unrest, and se the stage for Hitler to rise to power.  And France and Britains appeasement to Hitler made him bolder and bolder.  And at the same time militaristic leaders gained power in Japan, and pursued Japanese dominance of East Asia.

Looking back at everything, it just seems inevitable that the U.S. would become involved in hostilities in some way, even though the majority of Americans preferred a policy of isolationism.  Blaming FDR for the War seems like an awful big load to dump on one man's shoulders, doesn't it?

I do not believe FDR was the sole cause of the entire war.  I feel his policies in the Pacific helped to force the Japanese Hand when it comes to their opening aggression towards the US.  Do I feel he knowingly allowed the attack?  No.  As for the ETO, again, I think he wanted to engage Hitler from the beginning and he aligned policy to help ensure that happened.  Was it a Conspiracy?  Absolutely not.  It was simple policy.

Why does it matter? Why not give it a thumbs up? Because of his politics? Because you dont like the policies he had? IF he were the current or very recent POTUS. It might mean something. But now. Those are entirely stupid reasons.

Its a piece of history

Would it really matter if the 3 cornered hat Mbaily found was American or British? Would one make it any of a cooler find then the other?

Would you have made the same comment if it was a picture of Hitler? Or would you have said "Wow. cool find"? Or dont you think Hitlers policies or politics were worse then FDRs?

What if it were a bullwhip who's original ownership can be traced back to a plantation owner in say 1840?
As horrible of things that that whip would have stood for. We still would have recognized the history behind it and said "Wow. cool find".

Those things would have been  because of their historical significance. Not because of what or if we agreed with what those people stood for
