Fight Club Arenas
« on: December 22, 2014, 08:26:18 PM »
A lot of people would like to play more if they could find and get into fights quickly.  The WWI arena and the DA are great for this if there's people in there but I suspect WWI's not used as much as it could be because people want their scores to count, they want to earn perks, they want to fly their favorite ride, etc., etc., etc.

I propose HT get rid of the current EW and MW arenas and set up EW, MW and LW fight club arenas set up just like the WWI arena; three airfields (one for each country), nothing destructible and killer ack.  No radar to go down or be taken out.

Allow scores to count, perks to be earned and spent and carried into the MA.  Leave GV's in these arenas with spawns to the center of the arena and a "safe" ring whereby if you exit the combat zone and the safe ring you land your kills.  Let attack planes carry ord specifically for anti GV work and to allow for use of flaks.  No bombers outside of light, single engine types.

They can't be used any less than the current EW and MW and would be easy to implement.  Seems like it would at least be worth a try and maybe could be used as a free to play option by further restricting the plane set for the free players.

It would piss off the weirdos in the MW and EW that they can't roll bases unopposed anymore...

Why do you want to close arenas that have players in them?

This is the reason this won't happen as suggested.

Just make the arenas an addition to what we have.

Set up a custom arena and try it...... post it as an event.

If your right and it proves mega popular then put it to HTC for a more permanent set up.

Can't see closing the MA happening........... it is the core revenue source by a looong way.

My proposal would have these arenas alongside the LWMA for use in off peak times or when radar's out or any time people are looking for quick action.

Or, maybe modify the map so that in the center of each map is essentially tank island where the rules are tweaked as you describe. This means you could join in rolling bases elsewhere or go to the center of the map for nothing but pure ACM or tank fights.

At one time the DA Furball Lake was what Baldy is describing. Was always packed. Now, many of them have moved on or graduated into the MA. From time to time I see maybe 6 in there these days.

So the test happened for years under Baldy's nose and ran it's course.

You also might say the same test showed how degenerated the game play style will get in HtH free arenas if they are brought back. Furball Lake was a teeny bopper cesspool of face shooting and sissydom with minimal exceptions. And masterful vomit mouthed whiners and pud thumpers on PM when you went in there for a few minutes of free kills from the rigors of the MA.
