Combat Trim

Have the keystroke assigned in the game to turn on and off Combat Trim work the same as if you checked or unchecked the "Auto Combat Trim" in the "Flight" Preferences.

There is one, it's control + x to turn it on or off. Or you can map it to a button on your joystick.

Go to Options>>>>Controls>>>Map Controllers (?)

Then press the button you want to use, and one of the selections should become bold, then select Modify, then select the "Flight" bubble in the pop-up window, and select "Combat Trim" for it to be changed.

, I use the K button to turn it off, and X to turn it back on,  my trim is mapped to the wheels on my throttle when it's off,, you must be out of auto flight control for this to work!

The difference is when you have "Auto Trim" checked, and you hit Ctrl-X to turn off CT it will come back on automatically when you switch to an Auto pilot setting.  When you have "Auto Trim" unchecked, and you hit Ctrl-X to turn CT on it will turn off when you switch to an Auto pilot setting and not turm back on till Ctrl-X is hit again..

What I want is for Ctrl-X to turn it on and CT stay on till I turn it off no matter if I use auto pilot or not.  The same would apply for being CT being off, that is it is off no matter if switching to auto pilot or not.

Whiskey Ctrl-X is the default key assignment for "on-off" for CT.

Why would you change that setting in-flight? This sounds like a global preference.

Just to be clear, I am not wishing for a new, separate, CT key command but to modify the current Ctrl-X key command to emulate the check or uncheck auto CT found in "Flight"
There are some planes that I don't use enough to profeciant at manual trim like a B17, a Typhoon or a rare ride in a 262.  These planes I want to have combat trim on just as if I had checked the Flight "Auto Combat Trim".

If you uncheck auto CT, then use auto pilot for like level or climb-out you have to turn CT back on each time.  A good example is having to switch auto pilot on and off during a fighter attack on my B17.  Each time I use auto pilot I have to turn back on CT.

Yes. Currently CT works 2 different ways depending on the flight preferences setting.
You want to change that so it only works one way, eliminating a choice players now have.

Not sure I see your point?  Players still have two choices.  The auto CT would still be there for those that want it on all of the time.  The new Ctrl-X wish just turns off auto CT or turns it on.

CT can be either on or off.  It is that simple.  I see no negative to that.

What you are asking for can not be done with the existing key, it would require a different function to maintain what we also have today.

I in no way saying your wish is not a good idea.

But if you are a person who flies with CT off, Right now when you come out of auto pilot your plane is in trim.

Then later you can switch to CT on. Or if you did a manual trim, you can again hit CT and would be back to CT on.

Under your method if you turned CT on it would now be on when coming out of auto pilot Now press a trim key turns combat trim off, but pressing the key after that would also turn the default setting off instead of on and hence not work like it does now.

We already have that, two different ways.   

What you want is a difference in the Combat Trim state after leaving auto pilot which you can already do with a key press.

In other words you want a new key press to skip an old key press which Hitech says would require an additional key for the new key press to avoid losing a feature we have now, which was my point.

I see what y'all are saying.  That makes sense.  In a small way, the current system favors an auto CT setting but my way would favor a manual CT setting putting the auto CT people at a disadvantage.  No gain if you have to take away from someone else.
