Las Vegas
« on: January 10, 2015, 10:14:57 AM »
I am going on vacation this week and going to Las Vegas for the first time. :x
I am going to see Blue Man Group, and Mac King, and I have a few other ideas.
Any suggestions or advice on things to do and see from those of you who have been there?

Pen and Teller is a great show too. We had a blast just walking the strip in the middle of the night. It was only 105 then so it was bearable  :)

It's looking like its around 60 for highs and 40 for lows this time of year, a lot warmer than the 10 degrees here in MN.

Always good to catch the free Treasure Island show. I prefer the Flamingo buffet to others.

The monorail is a rip off.

Old town was fun.  Get the bus pass to save your feet. My girlfriend jumped off the stratosphere. Was going to ride new Yorks coaster but got stuck in coyote ugly for the night. I'll be back there in two weeks.  :bolt:

We are staying at the New York New York, definitely going to the Coyote Ugly and the bar with dueling pianos. Plus we have free tickets for the roller coaster.

Are you going primarily for the shows and sight seeing entertainment or to gamble a bit?

I haven't been for awhile, but I go there exclusively to play craps, I don't play any other games. If craps is on your agenda I can tell you where you can go and have a good time; winning of course is up to you.

Enjoy.

I want to do both, but the GF isn't a big gambler so my play time might be limited.

For craps on the strip go to Casino Royale. It's across the street from Caesar's Palace. Used to have 100x odds there, but I think they've all done away with that, 10x probably norm. Casino Royale has low minimums; last I was there, lowest anywhere on the strip.

Downtown is really the best for craps, because more places offer the 10x odds with low minimums. Binion's Horshoe, 4 Queens & Golden Nugget about the same as Casino Royale and all within walking distance of each other. I also used to play at the Lady Luck and Plaza, but I think they've torn them down; I don't know what is now in there place.

Good luck!

Craps tips: don't play the hardways or field, unless you're just having fun. Those are the worst odds on the table.

Treasure island free show and craps
Coyote ugly,in New York New York, poker ain't bad there either,
Buffet at the Rio,
Black jack at the Golden nugget,
Poker at binions, home of the WSOP.
Craps at the four Queens, ( if it's still there)
Slots in the casino at the Paris, go even if you don't gamble!
Boat ride at the Venetian,

If you're going to gamble, make sure you've refreshed yourself on the rules and practiced first:

A casino (ironically) called "The D" had the best dancing girls IMO.  I assume that name is historical.

Next visit (should be February) I plan to do some helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon.

Was there in late October for 4 nights...definitely not long enough and a bit tough with the kids but had a great time.
Stayed in the MGM signature towers - awesome but not cheap, night time helicopter ride, Britney Spears @ Planet Hollywood, and found a fairly cheap (compared to Aus and the more commercial Vegas ones) shooting range.
Would have loved to have seen Penn & Teller and seen a few more shows etc but just didn't have the time but a trip down the strip at night, and the fountains at the Bellagio are a must

Cool website there, in about 10 rolls I won 400+ playing the Don't, if only it were real. That site will help to refresh your knowledge of rules, odds, etc. quickly. You have to know the rules to begin with though.
