Like 99% of TrackIR Pro owners, mine has broken at the 2 weak joints. Electrical tape is my current "fix". In looking at the TrackIR forums today, there is a post saying they made a change to the plastics and the design a bit, to strengthen those weak little tabs. Anybody have a new one (last month or two?)... If you've had an old one, can you tell a difference?

2 weeks -> guarantee issue. Don't tell that you've all just fixed it with tape and not returned the product?

Quick-set epoxy, here.   ;)

Until they cast the TrackClip Pro in nylon, like a model airplane prop, I don't plan to bother getting another.

I bought the TrackIR5 w/TrackClipPro in 2011 or 2012 but never really cared for it, it did come apart and was patched back together but Ive always just used the clip on the hat, I cut a bib off an old hat and glued it to the top of my headset, has worked great.

So question, is the TrackClipPro that much better than the regular clip for the hat?

Off topic slightly, but has anyone had a TrackIR device die on them? I got an error message about how trackIR could not display the primary camera, after that the device isn't recognized, I spent hours and using advice from natural point to no avail. My best guess is that it has died.

I think I've had the pro clip for a couple years. I didn't think to try and return it, but it has to be way out of warranty.

For me, it works better than the reflector clips. I think a lot depends on the lighting in your room. The reflector clips worked fine at certain times of day, dont remember if it was night or day, but they didn't work very well the rest of the time. Especially on the "edges" (extreme to right or left, for example), the pro seems to work better. For me.

But it really is a piece of junk, manufacturing/design wise.

They said they couldn't find out the problem, because in their in-house testing, it always performed great. They finally figured it out when they realized the plastic was getting brittle due to shipping or transshipment or something, because they were left in the cold. They say they changed the plastic formula, and maybe also added some strength ridges, and now it's tougher.

Mine still mostly works fine, but I think I will build in a strut to keep it at the right angle off my head.

I have the TrackIR 5 that I ordered last summer. It has a magnetic base on the camera and the Pro Clip has a redesigned LED housing that I have clipped to my headphones. I ran the USB cable through the coils of my headphone to the PC for a long time and if it was going to break that would have been the time to do it. Now I have a USB 3.0 hub mounted in the bookcase behind my monitors and the Pro clip plugs in there. No problems on this end, except I occasionally forget to block the light behind me and that confuses the pickup.

You can see the Pro Clip on the headphones hanging from the microphone boom in this picture.

If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

For me, the Pro version with the LEDs is a lot better.  It very rarely gets confused by sunlight coming in the window, or reflections off my glasses.  The simple TrackClip with reflectors often simply lost its mind and had me staring straight up in the game cockpit, but the LED version never does that.  The range of motion while using the LED clip seems to be larger than the reflector clip, but I since upgraded my TrackIR from version 3 to 5 at the same time I switched to the LED clip, that might just be the difference in the camera and not the device on my head.

I have the reflector version and yes, any amount of light we cause problems.  Luckily living in Germany I can make the room completely dark by lowering the roladens.  Even then, I get problems just by lifting a glass of beverage to take a sip.

I don't know what's crazier, the awesome assortment of stick, throttle, wheel, and other inputs...

Or the fact that your keyboard is probably older than I am! lol.

I got TrackIR about 2 months ago. I've never had it before, so I have nothing to compare to, but I got TrackIR 5 with the proclip, and I love it. It certainly doesn't feel flimsy at all, and I don't baby it. With the proclip, I just put the headset on and go. I've never worried about ambient light, the window over the computer is always uncovered, and the light in the room comes on at night, not to mention I'm only a few inches from a 32" screen kicking back a lot of reflected light, and there has never been a tracking issue.

I ordered a new TrackIR the other day, will be here tomorrow, I didn't know how much I would miss it, I didn't go with the ProClip just to save the money, I still have the cheap one I can try.

I think maybe (after reading yall's posts) the reason I don't have an issue with the hat clip is that my PC room (Man Cave) has no windows an often my wife shuts my door.

There's a dude in Britain that sells an aluminum version of the clip which attaches with those plastic zip straps to the headset, easily replaced.

I will try to find the original box and I'll post it.

I like it but I don't use TrackIR for AH, only for P3D, FSX, X-Plane, DCS and CoD.

I noticed that on the uk ebay there is a trackir pro clip copy being sold out of Hong Kong. It has the same led arrangement but straps onto headsets with cable ties - not very neat but easy to maintain!
