How to migrate ch settings from one pc to another?
« on: January 22, 2015, 04:53:21 AM »
I had to change my pc and I have ch joystick, pedals, etc.
Joystick is a little damaged. It presents 15-20 dead band.
I found a discrete compromise between AH and ch
settings. I don't want to do all the job again on new
pc.I know how to export or copy AH settings but
I have some doubt on how to export ch settings - calibration
in particularly.
Any suggestions?

The AH settings are transportable, although. All of the dead band and damping settings will be transported with the settings folder.

If you're using CH software, I suppose their settings can be exported as well. In any case you can't export the Windows calibration settings, that's something you have to do in your new Windows. I believe calibration has to be redone also in AH in the new PC.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

No. A clone from an entirely differently built computer won't work because it will contain every single setting and driver and registry entry and whatnot from the original computer instead of those needed in your new computer.

How about not even installing the ch software? Only calibrate in Windows and AH and copy your old AH settings to the new computer. That might make it more simple with less software to interfere with the damaged stick. After all, calibrating a stick is just a matter of finding the center point. Multiple programs for dead band and damping would only make things more difficult to adjust.

Well I have a question along this subject matter as well.  New pc will be done today or tomorrow.  I copied the AH folder off my old pc and on a flash drive at the moment.

Can I just load the whole AH folder on to the new pc?  Or should I try to get back on the old one and get settings folder only and do a fresh install of the game?

Thanks

Fresh install of the game, then pull the settings folder off the flash drive and replaced E the one in the game folder with it.
