I saw the first episode and was not impressed. The book is a masterpiece by Phillip K Dick which makes a TV series bound to disappoint. And WTF they changed "the grasshopper lies heavy" from a book to a movie?!

I'd be very surprised if the series manages to deal with the philosophical and ethical issues that the book raises.

It won't be as good as the novel obviously, but I have faith in Scott's ability to make a good TV show/miniseries. I always consider a TV show or movie to be a different entity than the book it is based on, and I'm able to enjoy both. The changing of the man in the high castle's story-within-a-story from a banned book to a banned roll of film is obvious. In a written work like the original novel, the written word is the best form of communicating that to the reader. In a motion picture like TV or movies the roll of film is the most effective and natural method for that media.

WTF is wrong with you? Haven't read the book but just watched Ep 1& 2 and I'm hooked. So freaking good. Ordered an Amazon Fire stick just so I can watch the rest on big screen. Not sure if I can wait for it to get here before I watch the rest. :x

The problem is Germany cannot win wars against anyone except countries who use horses as a tactical weapon, the fact that the British invented the Spitfire still amazes the Bosch.

If the Axis had won would they have omitted the Brewster from AHII

I'm a big Phillip K. Dick fan (AKA Dickhead)

I've read all his major novels, and I have to say that out of all his works "The Man in The High Castle" is my least favorite.  Maybe least favorite is unfair, how about most frustrating.  It pulls you in, gets you thinking critically and deeply about the very nature of ourselves and even our reality and then,  just as it starts to feel like it's ramping up to a great climax all of a sudden...   ... wait, what... that was the last page...  seriously...  it ends just like that...   :headscratch:

I wouldn't expect a TV series to be 100% true to the novel (they never are). But I can see how the world that Dick created could be a fantastic setting for a dramatic series or movie, (It certainly worked for Bladerunner and Minority Report) I don't watch much TV but perhaps I'll check it out.

P.S.  I'm really surprised that nobody has done a movie or series based off "The Penultimate Truth" yet also.

The Penultimate Trurh was produced in a mini series for TV by Mel Gibson but went straight to Beta Max.

He strayed from the novel stating the English Red coats built backward facing toilets in the bunkers to anoy the americans.

If you just read books and dont watch TV whilst eating hotdogs with yellow paint on them you are a Commie :old:

What would have happened if the British after the Battle of Britain won WWII?

Churchill was awesome and did not care for turnips.
