About a year ago I started a post here about boats and the search that was on at the time.
Turned out that the guy I planned to share the boat with decided, after an offer was rejected for a 32' Pursuit, that he really wasn't going to be around last summer enough to justify a boat.
So, I decided that I would go ahead and buy myself something small that I could use to familiarize myself with docking, rules of the water etc. I have spent a lot of time on the water but never as the sole captain.
We had a great summer last year. Every weekend the cry of "Daddy, can we go on the boat?" would be heard on Saturday and Sunday mornings. But the kid's initial reaction when they saw the little 23foot Pursuit with a sun bleached battle scarred engine cover and the horrible old "Pursuit green" bottom paint wasn't great. They sort of crinkled up their noses and weren't exactly thrilled with the step down from the 32' we had previously looked at. I told them that one day, maybe even next year, we'd have something they would love.
Today my buddy and I received word that our offer to buy a 36' Pursuit was accepted. The agent who showed us the 32' boat last year called us as soon as the owner asked him to sell it.
Here's exactly what it looks like:

The one we have bought is a 2010 in showroom condition. The two Yamaha 350s have a total of 60 hours run time on them. Subject to the survey we have commissioned it will be ours by this weekend.
Here's a shot of my daughter "striking a pose" on the front of it, right before the sea trial last weekend:

I am NOT selling the little boat. In fact I have just approved a quote to put new canvas on it (the green one was basically destroyed in one of the hurricanes in October), the bottom has been repainted (dark blue) and the seats are all being recovered. This way no matter what happens we will have a boat to use. This one is great for wakeboarding, skiing and getting really close to shore. It also fits at public docks at places we like to stop and eat. It will not sit idle. It is a great little boat, reliable and perfect for what we need it for.
