My car managed to pull a GTR on the A81 last summer.  Fast car they are and in their element on the track.  I picked a fight where I knew I had the advantage.  I do have go pro footage but since the GTR never got in front of me, useless to post

Ah yes .. the GTR. The car to which the laws of physics seem not to apply. Such a docile car to drive too. Careful not all GTRs are equal, some might surprise you. They started at high 400 HP, newest factory Nismo one is 600HP. Also there's a couple of serious GTR-UFOs out there that look stock. I'm not looking down on your factory monster's ultimate hunting ground achievements.

Since on the subject, I might as well share one of my 'ambiance background music' vid. Viper SRT10 is 600HP yet during the whole vid he follows GTRs despite hammering in.  :airplane:

I heard they got massive hate mail when they came out with the new 4 door charger originally :rofl

I don't understand what they were thinking, although I am pretty sure the whole reason for the 4 door was  they had contracts with police....AFAIK

neither do i. i can't stand the original of the new gen chargers. the 13's don't look too bad. i kinda really like this one. i do really still think that whomever put the charger name on a 4 door car should be stabbed in the knees with an icepick. multiple times.  :devil

almost forgot. i work on a small pd's fleet. they've got a 2010, and a 2013 charger, then a couple suv's. the 2010 sucks. slow. handles ok. the 2013 handles nice, reasonably quick. i like their tahoe the best though.

What was dodge supposed to call their hemi 4-door?  Intrepid?  They've got the challenger for the 2-door throwback styling, so what was the 4-door supposed to be called?

Maybe the charger should have been called the dart?  If it was called the dart, they could have put 900+ hp in there with 10 engine options from a 4-banger diesel to a turbocharged 8 liter V-12, and still nobody would have bought it :)

My Dad had a dart way back in the day.  He said it was very nearly the ultimate sleeper since it had the "dads old box on a box" look, matched with Dodge's best motors and a relatively lightweight chassis due to the (lack of) styling.  Kind of like what you could get in the late '80s and early '90s by swapping mustang performance or race parts into a Fairmont.  Due to gearing he said it would float the valves at around 120, and at least keep up with almost everything chebby made that year.

From a dig, I stand no chance against a Late model GTR.  But meet at 100+ on the A-Bahn, I can reel them in

Edit - nor could I even consider a "win" against Gman's beast.  Mine is stock and now considering leaving it that way.  Since seeing that 2016 GT500 in spy shots, I am thinking of selling mine and buying one.

If I were to buy just one car, solely for fun.... Caterham Seven 620R would be it. A GTR is a genteel ride in comparison, not to mention all those things not related to speed, like a roof, comfort and practicality. The 620R is like an insane terrier, and as fearsome a beast the GTR is, it would surely leave the 620R's yard immediately, lest the terrier become unhinged.

Here's a Charger of yesteryear.... Remembering this may help take the sting out of the 2015 4 door being called that....

Hah, I'd forgotten about those Chargers, with the "2.2" in nice decal graphics on the side, as if that meant something special.  Those and the Daytona Turbos - they were everywhere, I can't believe I forgot about them.  Didn't they make a "Shelby" one as well?  Ha ha ha.

As to the 620r, ok I'll bite that hook:

That 620r review was odd, the 500hp ATom is faster in all categories and is 4 years older, yet they state that it's the fastest car in the world essentially.  "No other car is like this"..except the Atom and a dozen others like it, which are actually faster.  The 500hp Atom was the fastest car around Top Gear's track for a while at 1.15, the stock first generation GTR was 2 seconds behind that, with the newer ones (below) beating the 500hp Atom in 0-60 and 1/4mile (no track data yet, at least no "media" track data to compare the new 2015 GTRs to the Atom or 620r on the same tracks..yet).  That particular Atom was a full half second quicker than the 620r (2.7 vs 2.2) just to 60 mph, and pulls away even more after that.

Both the these GTRs in this article are faster to 60, in the 1/4 mile, and have 40+mph higher top speed than the 620r, I have a hard time buying it would send either, much less modified 900 to 1400whp GTRs (custom vs custom, it's only fair) cars yelping from the yard.

I did drive in a Polaris Slingshot not too long ago, and I have to say I smiled and laughed the entire time, even though it was slower than most of the cars I've had recently, it was probably more fun due to the experience and other intangibles.  Plus everywhere you went people wanted to talk to you about it or get a ride in it, hundreds every time you take it out.  A good compromise, and a lot cheaper than an Atom.  We have a deposit holding an Alfa 4c, and will sell the Nissan after 4+ years with it this spring.  The 4c is far lighter, far less power, and not really a racing car, but a fun touring car.  I don't really care about speed so much as I'm getting older, more about the experience, although speed is fun still.  I wouldn't say no if she convinced me to get another of the newer GTRs though, but would not be convinced to spend a lot of $ modding it like the last one.  I am going to drive the new SRT stuff, the new Z06, and absolutely several of the new Mustangs before making any decision for car #2.  It's getting pretty tight, a lot of competition between all the manufacturers now, especially under 80$k.
