"Pick" A four Letter Word

There is nothing wrong with clearing a friendly's six.  I don't know who ever got everyone thinking it is such a horrible, no-skill blah blah thing.  It's called teamwork.  Some may need to google the term.

I have a film of Krupnski and I in 4 Hogs. Together we landed 13 scalps between the both of us...a person called us "picktards" on 200. So we followed that run up with LA7s, where we landed another 13 kills, the LA run was me NOE going into the base with Krup in trail at maybe 1K.

What they were calling "picking" was Krup and I working together against a bigger force....most of the time them with alt.

Plane gets on Krup, Junky clears Krup, plane gets on Junky, Krup clears Junky, Junky ropes 3, Krup kills three.....

The pattern continues, there is a very clear difference in planes working well together and the "Lamer" pick.

In my mind it comes down to the circumstance of the pick.   If you are tangling with a guy one on one and another bird, either on your team or the other guys team drops in and picks, I'm not impressed.  Someone else has done all the work.

If 2-3 guys are mugging a single and that guys teammate drops in to help him, so be it.

Sometimes it's fun to go trolling for high guys trying to suck them down and see if I can frustrate them enough to end up tangling on the deck.  More often then not I end up a scattering of cartoon plane parts but it's fun nonetheless.

People fly like they want to.  As long as I'm not really dying it just doesn't matter

you can not get angry at someone for picking you...not even in a 1vs1.....

someone once said "if you are in a 1vs1 in the MA your SA has failed"  Del maybe.....


I agree 100%  that does not mean I will pick a 1vs1 cause I don't....unless the friendly calls for help....then I will...unless of course that said friendly is on the list...then I leave him to die....

you salute a player not because of how great a kill you got, but you salute the other player because he did his best to avoid giving an easy kill.  you also salute  when you lost but you know the other did his best to get you down.

Given the level of bravado in this game, sending someone a "nice pick" message, will be instantly construed as a negative comment. 

One squad night a few weeks back, I got a PM "every time I get killed by one of you guys it's a pick".  I didn't reply, but in my head I thought, "good". 

First, it's his poor SA that kept him from seeing the impending doom. Second, I encourage my guys to fly in wing pairs.  It improves SA, and provides mutual protection.  We get a lot of kills that way because of reason 1...

Sadly, today's society is increasingly wired to instantly blame someone else for their failings. I think it's the "not my fault" generation.  I could go on, but risk a ping so

"Nice Pick" is generally construed as sarcasm. Unfortunately sarcasm is lost in text form.

Forgive me for being so bold but I think remember the instance your're talking about and, as memory serves, what happened wasn't exactly what I would consider a pick. From my point of view, I caught you on the top of a zoom with a furball well below you. You were far removed from any type of fight and were neither in danger of losing a hard fought kill or otherwise engaged with any con within 1.5 icon range except me. You have my respect and admiration Randy1. You're one of the good guys IMO and please don't take any response to your PM as anything more than a misunderstanding. I don't favor myself as a picker in 90% of MA encounters and will, often to my own demise, avoid being the guy that ruined a fight or was #2-10 in line on some poor guys six.

I'm new to AH, 2 months now. I didn't know there was a name for what I was doing to all my team mates. "Picking"     Just to be sure, picking is "poaching" a friendlies "soon to be" kill right?    I'm a uber newbie though. As soon as i see enemy icons, im nose on.

Nope...  Picking is shooting a bad guy that's chasing a good guy.  The idea is you "picked" him off a good guy.  It's a term that's normally used by the victim as a way of explaining away their lack of situational awareness.
