How To Create An Orders Spreadsheet

I was getting ready for the upcoming Frame Three, and decided to put this together...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

1.) open web browser to http://www.ahevents.org

2.) navigate to:  Events -> FSO -> View Side Assignments

3.) select the current FSO tour (top of list) and then click on "View Text" button

4.) in the assginments for your side use the mouse to highlight all the text
(left-click on "Squadname", keep mouse left button down, drag down to "Total Commitments" line)
then use Control-C to copy the highlighted text

5.) open a plain text editor (i.e., notepad.exe) and paste the text

6.) save the text in a comma-separated-value file (i.e., "squads-co-numbers.csv")

7.) manually edit the CSV file to place a comma between the fields, i.e., between squad name and CO name, between CO name and low number, etc.  For example:



8.) open the CSV file with a spreadsheet program (i.e., MS Excel, Open Office Calc, etc.)

9.) save the file as a "Excel 97-2003 Workbook" format file (*.xls) to improve compatibility

This is what my spreadsheet looks like after editing, sorting the Squads (first by size, then by name), and adding columns for the aircraft I will assign once I get the Frame Objectives...

Sweet, Bino.  The real benefit is how much time is saved 'getting organized'.  Because of the format used, more time can be spent working out variations for the plan.

It's the simple things...

I use that but I change mine a bit, I add what they flew frame 1 or 2 and add take off base and target, mine is a lot more complicated, but it works for me.

for most people, bino's is a great way to do it and keep things in order so you can understand what you're doing!

Also yes, when I first start making a spreadsheet I make record of the primary ride for each squad going back the last 3 frames and also record their attendance for each frame. This way I can avoid shafting a squad by giving them bombers if they recently had them and didn't request them. Also I can plan on maximizing the distributions of limited planes, or planes with a set minimum.
